This is a tough post….
After 13 years of doing one of the most rewarding things in my life, the time has come to finish Exquisite on a high.
Exquisite has been something beyond my dreams. I always wanted to be a lawyer, from the time I was a little girl. I did that, and loved it while I did it- but motherhood changed my outlook and after almost 8 years as a lawyer, I found a different Nerida when I became a Mum.
What started as a little idea, a dream to provide Mums with the opportunity to exercise and find a piece of themselves again that may have been forgotten or lost. To make them realise that to be the best person mum, friend, person, partner they can be, they deserve to find the joy of exercise: of discovering the life changing world of physical and mental health via exercise and community.
I started a Bootcamp with babysitting in the park with one client: I begged a good friend to come from the other side of Brisbane to join in so my client didn’t feel by themselves (or know that I only had one client)!.
I didn’t expect in my wildest dreams that Exquisite Fitness would take off to the level it did.
5 years after the start of Exquisite, I made a hugely scary decision to start up a gym: to re-brand and try to capture more males and females.
My vision was clear- a gym shouldn’t be a factory of people walking in and out. It should encompass support, highly skilled and empathetic trainers who care about people and their stories: who know how to listen, deliver quality programming and be super strict with form. It should never be an intimidating environment and as trainers we should lead by example, lead a balanced life and be part a community of people who cheer the goals and achievements of others.
I am incredibly proud of what I’ve achieved- lifelong friendships have been formed, hundreds have been educated about exercise and its benefits- and there are no words to describe how truly grateful I am to every single person who has trained at Exquisite. A successful gym cannot operate without trust from clients, and for that, I cannot express my gratitude enough.
But the time has come where I was faced with either significantly less creasing prices or calling it, and I never wanted to put more pressure on people.
To my clients and friends, this is where I get emotional…. I don’t have the words to say how much I care about you: how truly thankful I am that you trusted me and my vision, for continuing to support me and see the value in what I was providing through allll of the ups and downs of life. Every single person who I’ve met via Exquisite I made it my mission to know you, to care about you, to find a way to motivate you and see how important exercise and community is in your life: thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
To every single person who liked or shared a post, who recommended a friend, who supported from near and afar, thank you for seeing what I could offer and helping small business so much. Thank you thank you thank you.
To my insanely amazing family and friends- thank you all for supporting me and being so passionate about what I was trying to achieve 🙏🙏💞💞
To my incredible trainers- who encompassed my vision and delivered exceptional programming and training time and time again- who love and care for my clients like I do, thank you times a million. They go above and beyond- when they’re tired and need to bring the energy, who spend a lot of time thinking about programming, who get up early and sometimes get up late, you’re beautiful and caring people and I’m forever grateful.
This is not goodbye, I will probably do some small training groups and PT sessions: and I know that I’ll stay in contact with you all.
And finally, please always support small business where you can- it’s so vital and important for our community. 🙏
Exquisite will close its doors on Saturday 21st December, please please, all new and former Exquisites, come and share a drink and reminisce with us at the Grange Bowls Club next Saturday from 3pm…. I would adore seeing you.
Love always, Nez ###x
