Different people can react differently to being told “no”, and being told “no” repeatedly would have put a dent in most peoples confidence.

This kid is not most people.
When he heard “no” he simply worked harder. His discipline and determination are second to none, he does the things other people wouldn’t not too just get it but to be elite at it. He’s prioritised this part of his life - even with nothing promised.

It hasn’t been easy. There has been plenty of knocks on him and some will say it’s an overnight success or he came good at the right time.
The reality is this year was a constant job interview and his best currency was his performance and he didn’t disappoint.

What people don’t see is the daily sessions on the rebound net, his nutrition, sleep habits and the way he has treated his body like a professional for the last 2 years. His will and drive will make him a success and the Pies have found a good one.

Behind the scenes I have to thank his amazing family who trusted me throughout the process. They rode the bumps and bruises more than anyone.
I was lucky enough to have the best guidance from David Lake, whose experience shows why he’s one of the great footy minds, and more than someone I could rely on at all times. We had also had unwavering support from Oscar and the Tribal crew who never doubted his ability.

Now let’s see the kid show why he should have been taken sooner!

We have been waiting for this debut and Ash definitely proved that he belongs at this level! Hes demonstrated plenty of persistence and maturity in the last month, showing that performance is the best currency and that if you keep turning up, it cannot be denied! 🐎🤦‍♂️
