“I’m too old to start.”

One of the most common things we hear — and one of the least true.

The truth? Strength training benefits people at every age. Muscle mass, bone density, balance and independence all play a huge role in how we feel and function as we age.

The older you get, the more important it becomes.

We’ve had members start in their 50s, 60s and 70s. Some had never stepped foot in a gym before. Today, they’re among our most consistent and committed members.

Meet Georgia, the newest coach at Sydney Strength Training 👋.

Georgia holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physiology from the University of Sydney. She also holds Certificates III and IV in Fitness.

Georgia first came to Sydney Strength Training as a client many years ago, encouraged by her older brother to start lifting weights to improve her performance in Soccer. That early exposure sparked a lasting passion for strength training, which deepened when she helped her Mum get under a barbell for the first time, inspiring her to pursue coaching, particularly among women and older adults.

Now a coach at Sydney Strength Training, Georgia has also competed in powerlifting, boasting an impressive 160kg deadlift, which is her favourite lift.

She takes an evidence-based and supportive approach to help clients build strength, confidence, and long-term independence in the gym.

Great effort from two of our SST coaches at their recent Powerlifting comp! Coaches Tim and Rheece hit the platform last Sunday and smashed their lifts 💪🏻🏆

Tim:
Squat: 185kg
Bench: 125kg
Deadlift: 240kg

Rheece:
Squat: 235kg (PR!)
Bench: 170kg (PR!)
Deadlift: 260kg
