Mackay Kendo Club - Goshu Shobukan

Mackay Kendo Club - Goshu Shobukan Kendo first started in Mackay in 1997 by Sensei Katsumi Kuramochi. Kendo, is a modern Japanese martial art derived from traditional swordsmanship.

Kendo emphasizes discipline, respect, and mental fortitude while developing physical skills. Kendo (剣道 kendō), meaning "Way of The Sword," is a modern Japanese martial art, which descended from traditional swordsmanship (kenjutsu) and uses bamboo swords (Shinai), and protective armor (Bōgu). Today, it is widely practiced across Japan and many other nations across the world. Kendo is a physically a

nd mentally challenging activity that combines martial arts practices and values with sport-like strenuous physical activity. Kendo is practiced wearing a traditional Japanese style of clothing, protective armour (防具 bōgu?) and using one or, less commonly, two shinai (竹刀).
