🏆 Oriol Memorial Cup | Third Edition

Three days of football, friendship and community, remembering our beloved coach and friend, Oriol.

Seeing so many young players come together, compete and share their love of the game is a special way to honour his memory and keep his legacy alive.

Thank you to all the clubs, academies, players, coaches, referees, families and volunteers who have helped make this weekend possible. Your support means so much to us.

Always remembered. Always part of our team, Oriol. ❤️

Australia Cup 2026 champion and Mark Viduka Medallist. So proud of you, Javi

What a performance in the final, and what an achievement for you and everyone at South Melbourne FC

What most people don’t know is that Javi had been battling a virus since Wednesday, barely able to eat and losing three kilos in just three days. Watching him play, you wouldn’t have known what he had been going through.

For us at SDC, Javi represents so much of what we want our young players to learn: resilience, respect, hard work, commitment and togetherness.

We see the work behind nights like this. The early morning training, the extra sessions, the hours you spend coaching with us and the care you put into everything you do. The way you carry yourself on the pitch and the beautiful family beside you, Andrea and Victoria.

Seven years together, Javi, and here’s to many more.

Sometimes, years and years of hard work are rewarded in one night. Enjoy it, celebrate with your team and family, and take the time to rest and recover. What a special moment.

Congratulations to Khan Mato on his selection for Melbourne City FC!

It’s been great to see how much Khan has improved during his time in our Full-Time and High Performance programmes. He’s a very skilful player who can use both feet so well, but his commitment has also been a big part of that progress.

We’ve shared plenty of experiences with Khan, from travelling to Spain to competing in interstate tournaments. This year, he played in his own age group but spent most of the season one year up. He also played two years up, showing an impressive level on a full-size pitch.

Very happy for you, Khan. Wishing you all the best at your new home

Congratulations to Anton Smith on his selection for Melbourne Victory MelbourneVictory YPL programme!

Anton has been with us for four years as part of our Full-Time and High Performance programmes, representing SDC in local & interstate tournaments and also travelling to Spain with us in 2025 to compete.

Over the past four years, we’ve seen Anton develop into an energetic, attack-minded player who loves to get forward and works hard for the team, both with and without the ball.

We’re very happy for you, Anton, and wish you all the best for this next chapter!

Congratulations, Samuel! We’re very happy for you and wish you all the best at Melbourne City FC!

Samuel was part of our Full-Time and High Performance programmes, joining us for all local and interstate competitions.

A very talented player, comfortable with both feet, with great composure and good decision-making on the ball. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop!
