2026 LAVERTON MAGPIES AGM – NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN!

The Laverton Magpies Football Netball Club invites all fully financial members to attend our 2026 Annual General Meeting.

📅 Sunday 25th October 2026
⏰ 12 Noon
📍 Location: Laverton Function Room

As we continue building towards 2027 and beyond, we’re looking for passionate people who want to have a say, support their club and help shape our future.

Nominations are now open for Executive and General Committee positions, with opportunities across football, netball, functions, facilities and club operations.

You don’t need years of committee experience, if you care about the Magpies, have something to contribute and want to help make our club stronger, we encourage you to get involved.

🏀 BASKETBALL COULD BE COMING TO THE MAGPIES! 🏀

The Laverton Magpies are exploring the opportunity to introduce Junior Basketball, and we need our community to help us show there is demand!

We have been in discussions with the competition about potentially entering teams. While places will depend on available capacity, we now want to find out how many GIRLS AND BOYS would be interested in becoming a Magpie basketballer.

⚫⚪ EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – GIRLS & BOYS ⚪⚫
We are looking for interest across:
🏀 Under 8 Mixed – Born 2020 & 2021
Optional eligibility if born after 25 March 2019 for Summer Season
🏀 Under 10 Girls & Boys – Born 2018 & 2019
🏀 Under 12 Girls & Boys – Born 2016 & 2017
🏀 Under 14 Girls & Boys – Born 2014 & 2015
🏀 Under 16 Girls & Boys – Born 2012 & 2013

Whether your child already plays basketball, wants to try it for the first time, or simply wants to play locally with their friends
– WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

The more genuine interest we receive across both Girls and Boys teams, the stronger our position will be to demonstrate that the Magpies can support a successful junior basketball program.

Our vision is simple: more sports, more opportunities and more pathways for local kids.

After an incredible 2026 season that saw our Senior Women reach the Division 2 Preliminary Final**, the journey continues in 2027 and we’re looking for more women to join the Magpies!

Whether you’re an experienced footballer, returning to the game, looking for a fresh start or keen to give footy a go for the first time there’s a place for you at Laverton.

⚫⚪ 2027 Reserves Coach Announcement ⚪⚫

The Laverton Magpies are thrilled to welcome back a true Laverton treasure, with Rowan Farley appointed Reserves Coach for season 2027!

Rowan’s name is well and truly part of the history of our football club. 100 goals in a single season an incredible achievement that speaks for itself. 💯🏉

But Rowan is much more than his achievements on the field.

He is a great clubman, a great person and an extremely knowledgeable football mind who understands exactly what the Laverton Magpies are all about.

As we continue to rebuild and strengthen our football program in 2027, bringing quality people back into our club is incredibly important. Rowan knows what it means to wear the Black & White, and we know he can play a massive role in helping us build the positive, united and enjoyable club culture we want moving forward.

We couldn't be happier to have him back coaching at the Nest and look forward to working hard throughout 2027.

What a fantastic way to celebrate an incredible year for our Junior Magpies! 🏆🏉

A huge THANK YOU to every one of our amazing coaches, families, volunteers, junior Sponsors Two Ten Coffee Grocer - Altona Meadows , Altona Sports Club, M & S Tyres and, most importantly, our kids for making 2026 such a memorable year.

Yesterday, Sunday 30th August, we came together at the Magpies Clubrooms to celebrate the achievements, development, friendships and memories made throughout the season.

To our Junior Magpies we are incredibly proud of every single one of you. ❤️

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be today.

After taking a year away in 2025, our Senior Women returned in 2026 and what you achieved in your very first year back was nothing short of amazing.

You fought your way through the season, battled through challenges, built friendships, created memories and earned your place in a Preliminary Final.

To our players — thank you.
Thank you for believing.
Thank you for committing.
Thank you for representing the Magpies with such pride, passion and heart.

To our team manager, volunteers and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes this journey doesn't happen without you.

And to the families, friends and supporters who stood behind these women all season thank you for being there every step of the way.

Ladies, you may not have finished the season the way you wanted, but please hold your heads high.
