CLAYDEN EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS
Heading into his first 410 Sprintcar season, youngster Kodi Clayden didn’t set any lofty expectations, but by the end of his 2025-26 season campaign, he had well and truly exceeded his own expectations.
At the age of just 20 and with only a single season of Wingless Sprint under his belt prior to his first 410 Sprintcar season, Clayden earlier this month completed his full Maddington Sprintcar Series campaign, and it resulted in him running just outside the top 10 of the final point standings in 12th and also claiming top-10 finishes in two rounds: Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway and Geraldton City Speedway.
“The goals for my first season in 410 Sprintcar was to just get through it in one piece and learn as I go, and to not only do that but exceed them is something I’m very proud of,” Clayden said.
“Stepping into a 410 Sprintcar with a limited amount of prior racing experience was quite daunting, but I gained more confidence as the season went on and it was also very beneficial for me to have Cole Macedo join the team for his Australian racing trip and be able to learn so much from him.”
During his massive 33 nights of 410 Sprintcar racing this season, which began at Darwin’s Northline Speedway in the Northern Territory and then saw him run the Maddington Toyota Series within his home state and the Australian Championship at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway in South Australia, Clayden learned so much steering his WA # 40 Intimidator Boats / West Coast Rewind supported Triple X car.
“It’s been a busy season for the whole Highline Motorsport team, and I can’t thank my dad, Daryl, and the rest of the team, along with the team’s sponsors, enough for all of their efforts,” he expressed.
“I managed to qualify into the feature race in 14 of the 23 Maddington Toyota Series rounds and I picked up two top 10 results along the way which was very satisfying. The Maddington Toyota Series is very tough each night, especially during the hectic Christmas-New Year period with the Speedweek Series and the High Limit International, and it’s been a great learning curve.”
Apart from finishing 12th in the final Maddington Toyota Series point standings, Clayden’s rookie 410 Sprintcar season was completed with a 10th in the final Triple Crown Series point standings.
Highline Motorsport team owner Daryl Clayden was equally pleased with the progress of his son in his first season in 410 Sprintcars.
“I’m super proud of Kodi and the whole team on their efforts during the season,” he said.
“For Kodi to finish every feature race he qualified into during the Maddington Toyota Series in his first season is an exceptional effort by all involved and I’m already looking forward to what’s in store for next season.”
Despite exceeding expectations during his rookie 410 Sprintcar season, Clayden and the Highline Motorsport team are focused on moving closer to being regular top 10 contenders during the 2026-27 season.
