Wow what a weekend at Kenda Tires 660 Drag Radial Series.
We tested Thursday in preperation for the Sugar Daddy shootout on Friday night and battled the left lane all weekend. Thursday night after testing finished we noticed a spilt on our fuel tank so it came out at 1130pm.
Friday morning we went to Ryans and Tony welded it back together. Without these boys our weekend would of ended then and there so a big thankyou goes to them.
Come Friday we had 1 test hit and then the draw for the shootout. Round 1 we drew Jase Cowie, our OG275 teammate. We managed to pick the right lane but lost in a tight race and locked the front brakes on and flat spotted the front runners into slicks, so now we were on a hunt for new front tyres. The call went out and within a matter of minutes we had 7 offers of tyres, rims and tyres and fitting etc. 25 mins later the tyres and rims arrived and on the car thanks to Daniel.
With Outlaw 275 numbers being low we decided to step up a class for the weekend. Saturday race day we had 2 totally different tuneups depending on what lane we were in thanks to Kon.
We ran 3 qualifying rounds, still fighting the left lane and qualified 2nd overall. Rd 1 we had Public Enemy and in a series of unfortunate events for Andy we got the win. Rd 2 we had Cody and got our 2nd win. Rd 3 we had another Spot On brother Dan and secured our third win which took us to the final.
Nathan in the Vacationer got lane choice and we had the left lane. Kon worked his tuning magic and with everone cheering from the startline and the crowd i knew we needed some miracle to take the win. We lost in a tight race against an Outlaw 275 car in our OG275 car.
Big congratulations to Nathan and his team on the win 💪
For those who may not understand the format of racing a Kenda event, we are an OG275 car that has an index of 4.60. Outlaw 275 has no index and traditionally has 4.00 and faster cars in it.
Now we head home to repack for Jamboree in a couple of weeks, then head to Alice Springs for Desert Nationals and Red Centrenats.
See you on the start line ✌️
