Well, after 6 days in hospital, I’m finally heading home. Still a long way from 100%, but thankfully the infection in my bowels and abdomen has finally cleared up. Now it’s just a matter of letting my stomach recover from all the heavy medication and giving my muscles time to heal from the surgery.
I’ve left with a huge amount of respect for the fantastic nurses and medical staff who work so hard every day. They do an incredible job under very difficult conditions, and it’s clear the Victorian public health system is seriously understaffed. On top of that, they constantly deal with violent and abusive “Code Grey” situations from patients struggling with drugs, mental health issues, or simply a lack of respect for the people trying to help them.
It really makes you appreciate the work these people do. Very grateful for the care I received, and also very happy to be back home in the countryside, away from most of that chaos.

Looks like I might be out of action for a few days. Bad abdominal pain that we need to get to the bottom of. I’m in the right place so just need a few tests to sort it out. Ambulance crew was fantastic. I’ll keep you all posted. To my next customer I’ll call you tomorrow.
