A common fear of parents is that strength training for kids is dangerous due to injuries and stunting growth.
Strength training for children doesn’t mean they’re like Olympic weightlifters, who do sharp lifts of a maximum weight, instead it involves light resistance and training in a controlled manner. It can include lifting light weights, but also the use of your child’s own body weight to exert force.
Children who regularly play sports and do strength training have less risk of a sports injury and for all children, including inactive kids, improving strength helps their bones grow and increase mass.
Additional health benefits for your child may include:
☑️reducing excess weight
☑️decreasing risk factors for heart and artery disease
☑️improving mental health
☑️improving sport skills
☑️building a foundation for being active later in life.

Mother-daughter bond🫶
Why is it so important?
Let me tell you my story… I remember the age (maybe around 11) when I began to steer away from any interaction with my parents towards my friends.
All I cared about was my friends and the fun we had together.
I didn’t want to talk to my parents, didn’t want to listen to what they’d say, “I knew better”, and “It’s my life, I do what I want!” kind of vibe.
Unfortunately, my parents were also busy and had limited time to spend with their kids (that didn’t want to do it anyway). I felt disconnected with them.
And now, being a parent myself, I realize how important it is to make time to spend with your child.
I want to be her friend!
I want her to know that she can trust me and that I will always have her back!
I want her to know that I am here and interested in what she’s got to say!
I want her to want to hang out with me too!
I love training with her as this is the time we get to spend with each other doing something fun! I hope this will stay this way when she grows older too!
Having some kind of activity that you do together is a great thing to have as a foundation for the bond between you and your child. Remember, there will be less and less occasions for that.
Let the training be one of those things you keep for longer.
It is not just the time at the gym!
It is a chat in the car on the way to the gym, it is the coffee date after the gym, it is something special that you can do together “like mother, like daughter”.

How young is too young when it comes to strength training?
When is a good time to start?
For kids, light resistance and controlled movements are best — with a special emphasis on proper technique and safety.
Your child can do many strength training exercises with his or her own body weight.
During childhood, kids improve their body awareness, control and balance through active play.
As early as age 6 or 7, however, strength training can become a valuable part of an overall fitness plan — as long as the child is mature enough to follow directions and able to practice proper technique and form.
