What a rollercoaster the last 2 weeks were.
It was a long few days/ nights in the garage repairing the car after our rallysprint incident. Thank you to those who offered support and encouragement where they could and to Sam who spared the time, connections and a spare car to help us get this car going again.
On our way down to Pemberton on Thursday afternoon we cracked a cylinder in our tow vehicle engine which meant a very quick plan B had to be created. We had the Prado on a tilt tray to Bunbury and with the help of family, we had a spare vehicle brought down and were back on track. We’re incredibly grateful to Wes, Sharon, Steve, and Michael for stepping in when it mattered most.
We made it into Pemberton and were ready. Shakedown on Friday was an awesome opportunity to ensure the car repairs held up and to practice in the wet weather.
The weekend itself was a great experience. The car felt strong, and our confidence built quickly—especially in the wet conditions. We completed 13 of 16 stages before a power steering failure forced us to retire and not finish the remaining stages.
While we’re extremely disappointed not to finish, we’re proud of what we achieved—running 1st in Rookie and 3rd in T130 up to that point. It was an unforgettable first event, and we’re already looking forward to coming back stronger next year.
Thankyou Steve for sitting in the silly seat and making this event so much bloody fun.
Thankyou Drew and Tina for keeping the spirits high and for all your advice and experience as well as all the other crews that reached out throughout the day and after our demise, we couldn't have done it without you.
Thankyou to Ross and Jan and all the volunteers that keep these events going, we couldn't do it without you!
