We're pleased to officially welcome Jeremy McGovern to the GSAS Board 💫

Jeremy is a business owner, community leader and former professional AFL player with the West Coast Eagles. During his AFL career, he was a Premiership player, five-time all Australian, club Best and Fairest winner and Vice-Captain, building extensive experience in leadership, high performance environments and team culture.

Following his playing career, Jeremy has continued his focus on business and community impact as the owner of ONN1 Services and founder of the McGovern Foundation. His business interests span the construction, mining, agriculture, and services sectors.

Jeremy is passionate about leadership, building strong teams, and creating opportunities for others, with integrity, teamwork and long-term impact at the centre of everything he does.

Athlete Applications are OPEN!! 🤩

We are looking for talented Great Southern junior athletes to apply for GSAS scholarships. If you have been talent identified in your sport or are progressing along your sporting pathway, we want to support you.

Scholarships provide strength and conditioning, medical and physio support, sports dietetics, workshops, mentoring and opportunities to progress.

We take athletes from all sports (aged 13-18) and we encourage you to apply.

We have been SO lucky to spend three days with Rhiannon Clarke PLY and her coach Danny Kevan. In a short period of time we were able to visit two schools (Denmark Primary and Little Grove), run a Para Athletics workshop, train our GSAS athletes and also work on building our own capacity to support para athletes in the future.

Rhiannon also gave the key note speech at our awards Gala on Friday night 🤩

Thank you to WA Institute of Sport for supporting the visit, and of course thank you to Rhiannon and Danny for bringing so much knowledge and inspiration to the Great Southern.

Great Southern Para Athletics Session! ⭐

Community members are invited to train and learn from Paralympian and Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Rhiannon Clarke, alongside her coach Danny Kevan, for an opportunity to experience Para athletics, learn more about the pathway and discover your potential.

This session is for people with disability, over the age of 12, who are interested in exploring Para athletics - whether you already compete in sport, enjoy being active, or have never considered Para sport before.

You don’t need to know your classification or already be involved in athletics. There is no cost, expectations or pressure! Just come along and give it a go.

It is a really special opportunity to learn from two people with a huge amount of experience in Para athletics and find out where the sport could take you.

GSAS is coming to Katanning! 🏃‍♀️⛹️

Next Thursday, GSAS is holding an athlete development workshop in Katanning for local aspiring athletes. This event is free and a great opportunity for us to connect with the young upcoming athletes in the area.

The session will be held on August 6th, 4pm - 6pm at Katanning Leisure Centre and available to athletes aged 13 - 18.
