✨ YOUTH GIRLS CRICKET IS BACK! ✨

What if cricket wasn’t just a sport, but a place where your daughter could grow in confidence, make new friends, have fun and feel like she truly belongs? 💚🏏

After the success of our first-ever U13 Girls competition last season, we’re so excited to be back and would love to see even more girls getting involved in 2026/27!

We’re inviting girls aged 10–15 to come and be part of our cricket family - whether they’ve played before or have never picked up a bat!

🌟 TRAINING
From Monday 12 October | 4:00pm
Fun, social group sessions where the girls can learn new skills, build confidence and enjoy cricket alongside other girls.

🏏 GAMES
From Friday 30 October
Exciting, shorter format games packed with plenty of action, fun and opportunities for everyone to get involved!

🏏🔥 SUNSET SCORCHERS IS BACK! 🔥🏏

And this season we’re back with a longer season & improved format, based on what our players told us they wanted! 🙌

🌅 Picture this… Spring & summer Friday evenings under the lights. The bar is open, tunes are playing, dinner and drinks are available and the field is buzzing with laughter, energy and a whole lot of cricket fun!

Never played cricket? Perfect! Sunset Scorchers is a fun, fast-paced modified game for women aged 14+ and absolutely no experience is necessary.

🏆 Great Southern Region Volunteer of the Year – Tracy Blaszkow

Country Football WA congratulates Tracy Blaszkow, President of the Albany Football & Netball Club, on being named the 2026 Great Southern Region Volunteer of the Year!

Tracy has volunteered with the Albany Sharks for more than a decade, beginning with canteen duties and general committee involvement before serving as Secretary, Treasurer and, since 2020, Club President.

When Tracy assumed the presidency, the club was facing significant challenges and was at risk of closure due to a shortage of volunteers, players and sponsors. Working alongside a revitalised executive committee, Tracy helped lead an extraordinary turnaround that has established the Sharks as a welcoming and respected destination for players and families throughout the Great Southern.

Under her inclusive and collaborative leadership, the Albany Sporting Club has expanded to include Australian rules football, soccer, basketball and cricket programs. Tracy oversees each sporting division and has been instrumental in establishing subcommittees to support their continued growth.

Her dedication has also helped strengthen the club’s commitment to equality, community wellbeing and creating a place where people from all backgrounds feel supported and welcome.

Tracy’s outstanding contribution has previously been recognised through the 2019 GSFL Volunteer of the Year Award and the 2022 Mike Stidwell Medal.

Thank you, Tracy, for your remarkable leadership, dedication and commitment to the Albany Sharks and the wider Great Southern sporting community. 👏

🍔 BUSINESS OF THE WEEK
The pair behind Albany's Muncheez Pitstop burger van opened 369 Bar & Grill inside Ibis Styles on Albany Hwy in December. The regulars from the van found their way there fast.

The smash burgers made the trip. So did a 300g scotch fillet that one Local Guide called "one of the best I've ever had," chicken parmi four ways, and a full bar with Albany's only rotating frozen cocktail menu (20 varieties, five pouring any given day). Games room out the back since March. Breakfast from 7am.

One visitor went back for breakfast three days straight.

Introducing the amazing FINALISTS in the Inclusion and Diversity Award as part of the Kookaburra WA Community Cricket Awards for 2025-26: Albany Sharks Cricket Club, Joondalup Kinross Cricket Club, and Kardinya Junior Cricket Club.

Volunteers at these clubs make positive impact on people's lives. Congratulations and thank you 👏😍

The Inclusion and Diversity Award recognises the outstanding delivery by a club or association of diverse and inclusive experiences, and greater connection to community, for people with a disability, multicultural or Aboriginal backgrounds, or other minority groups in cricket.

Winners will be announced at a presentation evening on 23 March.
