🏐 A Friendly Reminder About Umpire Communication 🏐

As we move through the season, we'd like to remind all players, coaches, parents and supporters of the correct process for communicating with umpires.

Umpires play a vital role in our game and, like players and coaches, are continually learning and developing their skills. To ensure a positive and respectful environment for everyone; coaches, parents and spectators should not approach umpires before, during or after a match regarding decisions or performance.

If clarification or feedback is required, there are established processes in place to ensure concerns are addressed appropriately and respectfully.

Please take a moment to review the attached guide outlining **who can communicate with an umpire, when communication can occur, and the correct process to follow**.

🌧️ TRAINING CANCELLED 🌧️

Unfortunately, Net, Set & Go training has been cancelled this afternoon due to the wet weather.

If you have recently purchased a new dress and haven’t tried it on yet, please take this opportunity to do so. If a different size is required, we can arrange swaps next week. If you are missing a hat or any other uniform items, these can also be purchased prior to the Bowen Carnival.

After a jam-packed weekend of netball, enjoy the extended break and some well-deserved rest. We are incredibly proud of all our players and the effort they put in over the weekend.

🏐 Mackay Winter Carnival 2026… Done and Dusted! 🏐

What a fantastic weekend of netball! This year we had 15 teams represent WNA at the Mackay Winter Carnival, including 4 Set & Go teams, 3 PPP teams, 5 Club teams, and 3 Ladies teams.

Our Set & Go players gave it their absolute all and left nothing in the tank. Watching these young athletes grow in confidence, skill, and teamwork is one of the most rewarding parts of the season. Their netball journeys are only just beginning, and we couldn’t be prouder.

✨ Junior Team Results

🏆 Stars 14 – Winners of the 14 A/B Division! There was some tough competition throughout the day, but all that hard work and training paid off. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement!

🥉 Stars 12 – 3rd Place in A/B Grade

🌟 Shockwaves and Whirlwinds finished tied for 4th place, leading to an exciting playoff match against each other, with Shockwaves taking the win.

💜 Stingers and Tsunamis showed tremendous determination and effort throughout the carnival. Unfortunately, they came up against some tough competition, and while the results didn’t fall their way, they never stopped trying and represented WNA proudly.

From our youngest players through to our senior athletes, it’s fantastic to see so many teams representing our association across the weekend.

💜 COUNTRY CARNIVAL RECAP 💛
Recently our U12 and U14 PPP teams hit the courts at Netball Queensland's Country Carnival, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented WNA.

Both teams faced some tough matches early and while results didn’t go their way on Saturday, they showed plenty of grit and determination to turn things around on Sunday, with each team finishing the weekend with some wins. U12s finished 17th overall and our U14s finished inside the Top 10, placing 9th overall after a strong finish to the weekend.

For many of our U12 players, this carnival marked their first representative experience, and they should all be incredibly proud of the way they stepped up and represented the club.

Thank you to our coaches, managers, supporters and umpires for the time and energy you give to make opportunities like this possible.

And a special shoutout to Biannca Sturma, who was recognised with an Umpire Recognition Award for the carnival. Such a wonderful achievement! 🏅
