Sydney City Redbacks Korfball Club We are Sydney's premier Korfball club (established 2012). We have a mix of players from seasoned int Korfball has arrived in Sydney city centre!

The Sydney City Redbacks Korfball Club (SCRKC) is an open club to anybody who fancies trying out the world's best mixed s*x sport. From absolute beginners to international superstars, all levels and ages are welcome. Come and give it a go and if you find out it's not the sport for you, social members are encouraged! But what is korfball? Invented by a Dutch PE teacher in 1902, ‘korf’ ball literall

y translated means ‘basket’ ball and as such, the sport bears similarities to both netball and basketball. The major difference is that to play korfball, an even number of male and female players are required and it is recognised as the only truly mixed-s*x sport in the world. Each team consists of 4 girls and 4 guys in which every player must play every position as defence and attack are switched each time 2 goals are scored. The facts:

We train weekly on Saturday mornings. With the Australian Club Championships on the horizon in June and regular socials being organised, it is an exciting time for The Redbacks. Whether you’ve heard of korfball or not, we would love for you to come along and get involved! The facts:

The Sydney Korfball Club was saddened to hear of the passing of Newcastle Royals Korfball Club stalwart Andrew Barrett.

A fierce opponent on the court (and sometimes for us as well), and the nicest person off the court as soon as the final ho**er went. Everyone from the Redbacks who met Andrew has fond memories of a chat afterwards at the pub or on the side of the court after the game. It's been such an honour playing for the cup named after Andrew and we hope that the tradition will continue on for generations of NSW Korfballers. His determination and drive during his battle with MND over the last few years was nothing short of amazing and it is a cause that will stay close to our hearts.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to Jennifer and the family, as well as the Newcastle Korfball community.
