Southern Cross Self Defence Ninjutsu

Southern Cross Self Defence Ninjutsu Ninjutsu (Bujinkan) Martial arts teach self-defence, and can improve confidence and self-esteem. They also enhance weight loss and improve muscle tone.

Martial arts cover a broad range of activities that involve fighting techniques, physical exercises, and methods of mental discipline, among other skills. Martial arts originated in the ancient cultures of Asia, and are used today around the world for self-defence, exercise, health, spiritual growth, law enforcement, and athletic competition. When used as exercise, martial arts can improve balance

, strength, stamina, flexibility, and posture. On the mental level, martial arts can teach stress management, improve concentration, and increase willpower. Small Group Classes

At SCSD&F we believe anybody can learn Ninjutsu, and training should be accessible to everyone. We also understand not everyone engages to their best ability in larger classes, and that people learn at different rates. That’s why we offer small group training and a flexible curriculum, in addition to our larger classes. We work with you to determine which of our training groups bests meets your or your child’s needs. We are not an NDIS registered provider, however if you are Self-Managed or Plan Managed then you may be able to use your NDIS funding to access our classes. We are also happy to work with you to help you (or your child) meet your NDIS plan goals. Please email any enquires to [email protected]

Tribute to Ishizuka Tetsuji Sōke – A Master Departs, His Legacy Endures

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ishizuka Tetsuji Sōke, heir and master of the esteemed Gyokko Ryū, a legendary figure in Budō, who has left us.

Those who had the honor of crossing his path know that he was not just a martial arts expert but a man of rare depth, whose teachings extended far beyond combat techniques. Ishizuka Sōke embodied transmission in its noblest form—a blend of discipline, respect for tradition, and a profound understanding of the essence of Budō.

A direct disciple of Hatsumi Masaaki Sōke, he dedicated his life to the study and preservation of ancient Japanese warrior traditions. But he was never merely a guardian of the past. He was a man of principles and deep thought, with a subtle and refined approach, always seeking authenticity in practice and teaching. His vision of Gyokko Ryū was that of a living art, a heritage to be carried forward without ever betraying its essence.

Ishizuka Sōke was also a man of great humility. Despite his status and vast knowledge, he remained approachable, guided not by a desire to dominate but by a sincere will to elevate others. His piercing gaze, his calm yet powerful posture, and his steady voice will long resonate in the minds of those fortunate enough to listen to and learn from him.

In his teaching, he did not merely explain movements or combat strategies. He sought to transmit a state of mind, a deep connection between body, spirit, and the present moment. For him, Budō was not a set of rigid techniques but a path, a constant dialogue between history and the present, between the individual and the universe.

His departure leaves an immense void but also an invaluable legacy. Those who learned from him, directly or indirectly, will carry his teachings forward. Like a wave that continuously returns to the shore, his influence will keep spreading, generation after generation.

Rest in peace, Sōke.

Nin ( 忍 ) is also pronounced as Shinobu (しのぶ) and is a Japanese verb meaning endurance, forbearance, patience, and self-restraint.

“To endure is the highest form of tolerance.
Gossips and rumours, let them be.
When encountering anything in life, to think it through before taking any actions is the true hero’s way. To endure and be modest, the disaster will pass itself.”
