aining, I’ve seen what happens when capable people spend too long “holding it all together.” Because strong people break too. Through keynote speaking, leadership conversations and thought leadership, I speak about resilience, emotional armour, workplace pressure, identity, silence and what it takes to come back stronger when survival mode stops working. My work combines real-world leadership experience, hard-earned lessons from adversity and a no-fluff approach to courageous leadership, communication and human performance. framework — a practical model exploring how high performers build emotional armour to survive pressure, and how that same armour can eventually disconnect them from themselves, others and authentic leadership. Most people are promoted because they're good at the job.
Not because they've been taught how to lead people.

Then we wonder why:
• Difficult conversations get avoided
• Performance issues linger
• Leaders become overwhelmed
• Good people leave

I've spent more than 10 years building leadership development around one simple idea:

People learn leadership when they need it.
Not six months later.
Not after another workshop.

When they need to have the conversation.
When they need to manage the conflict.
When they need to lead through change.

That's where real leadership development happens.
What's something you wish someone had taught you before you became a leader?

People don’t leave because of one bad day.

They leave after months of feeling unheard, unsupported or undervalued.

That’s why attracting talent is only half the challenge.

Keeping good people is where leadership really matters.

I’m curious…

What’s the biggest reason you think good people leave organisations?

The Emperor’s New Clothes.

One of the oldest children’s stories is actually one of the greatest leadership lessons of all time.

An entire crowd could see the emperor had no clothes on… but nobody said anything.

Why?

Because speaking up felt risky.
Because everyone else was staying quiet.
Because people didn’t want to look stupid, difficult or out of line.

So the silence continued.

Until finally, a child simply said:
“But he has no clothes on.”

And the illusion broke.

I think workplaces do this every day.

People see:
- poor behaviour
- toxic culture
- burnout
- leaders struggling
- team tension
- lack of accountability

…but stay silent because it feels safer.

We tell ourselves:
“It’s not my place.”
“Someone else will say something.”
“I don’t want to make things worse.”

But silence isn’t neutral.

The things we avoid talking about are often the very things causing the most damage underneath the surface.

Sometimes leadership isn’t about having all the answers.

Sometimes it’s simply being the person willing to say the thing everyone else can already see.

Strong people break too. These conversations are the start of something bigger around leadership, pressure and the armour people wear to survive.

I have a feeling more people are quietly exhausted than we realise.

Still smiling.
Still performing.
Still carrying the load.

Does that resonate with anyone else?

For years I’ve helped leaders and teams navigate pressure, change and growth — but behind a lot of high performance is something we don’t talk about enough…

Survival mode.

After 31 years in the military and a career in leadership development, I’ve seen what happens when strong people spend too long carrying pressure silently.

This next chapter is about having real conversations around leadership, resilience, emotional armour and what it actually takes to come back stronger.

No fluff.
No corporate buzzwords.
Just honest conversations that create lasting impact.

Excited to officially begin building the Tina Hall Speaker platform.

Strong people break too — and what it takes to come back stronger.

The reliable one.
The strong one.
The one who never asks for help.
The one who always handles it.

And because the world rewards that behaviour… nobody notices the cost.

Until exhaustion becomes normal.
Disconnection becomes normal.
Pressure becomes normal.

Some people don’t need more resilience.

They need permission to stop pretending they’re okay.

Strong people break too.

Sometimes it takes ages for you to see the changes you are making for your long term health. Losing 18 kg just hit me when a friend took this photo of me. The power of a photo to make you realise just how far you’ve come. Thanks
