Today we remember Professor Richard Scolyer AO, a valued member of the parkrun community who walked, ran and volunteered at our events on 288 occasions. Richard’s home event of GreenWay parkrun in Sydney shared this lovely tribute:

Today, we mourn an extraordinary human being. Richard was many things: a world-leading cancer researcher, Australian of the Year, an amazing athlete, and a man whose courage inspired millions.

At GreenWay parkrun, we were fortunate to have Richard as one of our parkrun community. Richard always encouraged others to ‘have a crack’, and watching him live his life with such joy and enthusiasm inspired so many of us to do the same. We were there to celebrate Richard’s 250th parkrun with him, alongside hundreds of family, friends and his parkrun community.

What stands out most for us is his humility. His kindness. His generosity of spirit. His ability to bring hope to others, even while facing his own adversity. We feel incredibly privileged to have been part of Richard's journey, and that Richard was part of ours.

Our thoughts and love are with Katie, Emily, Matt and Lucy, Richard's wider family, and the many friends, colleagues, patients and fellow runners whose lives were touched by this remarkable man.

Thank you, Richard, for your friendship, your inspiration, your courage and your example.

You will always be part of the Greenway parkrun community.

Event 527 Album POST (J): J is for Joy.

*** And that's a WRAP, final album post ***

And what a joyful morning it was. A good time was had by all, here the social pace walkers bringing it in to the finish line. With the series of posts for the album labelled in alphabetical order hopefully you can reference any particular photos easier.

I had fun & appreciated the enthusiasm shown. Thanks for your patience as I've had a busy weekend but eventually got the photos sorted & selected to put in this album.

Event 527 Album POST (I): I is for Inspirational. A lot of inspirational efforts here. Cruisers & walkers swing around the final bend... stay tuned, only one post to go.

Event 527 Album POST (H): H for Heroic. The social pace set continue to stream around the final bend to the waiting reception at the finish line. Nearly done, only one or two more posts to go...

Event 527 Album POST (F): For Fun Finishing..... lots of fun times with the mid pack action on the final bend before the final stretch to the finish.

Event 527 Album POST (E), for Effort. So much energy, the brisk mid packers really putting on a show with Energetic Efforts around the final bend onto the finishing straight.

Event 527 Album POST (C for Champions): More fast pace action around the final bend to the finish line.

Event 527 Album POST (B for Bravo): A supreme final dash action bonanza was delivered by all the Speedsters in this 2nd post for the album. The morning sunlight seemed to give many here a Nitro boost for the final 60m uphill dash to the finish as they came around the final bend. I really enjoyed watching the great action, some finishes were hotly contested & many delivered great performances.
