Hills Districts Athletic Club athletes, Jack Netting and Akeesha Snowden are set to make their World Para Athletics Championships debut in New Delhi from 26th September to 5th October after recently being announced in the 51 strong squad.
Netting, a T35 sprinter, will compete in the 100m and 200m events. After a successful domestic season, the South Australian sprinter has proven himself worthy of selection heading into the world championships.
Snowden, a T37 sprinter, will compete in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. The South Australian athlete’s versatility across the distances makes her one of Australia’s most promising para-athletes.
The World Championships mark a key milestone in both their careers. Under the expert guidance of their coach, Lynn Larsen, both Netting and Snowden have made tremendous strides in their respective events. Larsen’s support and coaching have played a pivotal role in their development as elite athletes.
In addition to the debutants, veteran Michael Roeger, a T46 athlete, will compete in the 1500m at the World Para Athletics Championships, marking his 6th appearance on a World Para Athletics team. Roeger, one of Australia’s most decorated para-athletes, has remained a consistent and formidable presence in his classification since his first international appearance in 2008.
