Great roll up for the WLBC open day on Saturday. Weather wasn't the best but the members braved the conditions for a two bowl triples game over 18 ends. The President Lyn Doyle welcomed a number of new members. Winners were the team of Jim Longe, Marg Miller and Kevin Wood. Thank you to Peter Wudja and Dale McCrostie for the BBQ after the game. The Club is now looking ahead with a new coach and a positive attitude to the start of the Pennant season next month. Go Lakers.

Call out to all bowlers and teams! Our **West Lakes Bowling Club Gala Day** is set for **Monday, September 21st**, but we need your entries **RIGHT NOW** to ensure the event goes ahead.
A massive amount of hard work, planning, and preparation has already gone into making this day a huge success, but without enough confirmed entries, we risk having to cancel.
I’m currently away overseas, but I want to make sure we return to a full green and a fantastic event. Don't wait until the last minute—get your team together or register as a single player today so we can lock it in!

Dear Members,

The Board is providing this update to ensure accurate information is shared across our club and the wider bowls community.

Recently inaccurate rumours have circulated regarding our finances. We state clearly:
The Club is not experiencing financial difficulty.
We are on solid ground and actively planning for a strong future.

Here are the key updates and initiatives for the upcoming 2026/27 season:
Saturday Bowls Teams: For the next Saturday season, we intend to enter teams in Division 1, Division 4, Division 5, and Division 6.
Committee Vacancy: A vacancy remains for the position of Chairperson of Selectors for Saturday Bowls. If you are interested in filling this vital role, please reach out to the Board.
Friday Meals: Our Friday night meals will continue. We encourage members to assist whenever possible to help keep this club tradition running smoothly.
New Club Coach: We have appointed a new Club Coach ! We will host a meet-and-greet session with him in the near future, so keep an eye out for details.
Membership Incentives: To grow our player base, we are introducing new fee structures this season:-
New Members: We are offering $150 membership fee for the 2026/27 season. This applies to brand new bowlers and players transferring from other clubs.
Recruitment Reward: Exisiting members who recruit a new bowler to the Club will receive a $50 discount off their own fees.
Bar Discounts: All new members will be eligible for the bar discounts offered by the Community Club.
The Board is working hard to implement the necessary changes to support our ongoing success. Please share these facts with your friends in the bowling community and help us promote a positive, accurate message about WLBC's future.
