It's been great to see all of you run the Sydney Marathon last weekend Awesome and I have given advice to people who were running their first marathon even though I am not a coach (might work on that)
Running Vibes has also helped runners with everything on their journey to achieve their goals at Sydney and I am proud that Feetures socks helped, pure gels and even our latest nutrition range helped Valoforte. I'm glad some of you picked up some Shokz bone conduction headphones to listen to Running Vibes tunes.
Sydney Marathon is special to me, emotional to say the least it holds a special place in my heart β€οΈ The last marathon before my heart said no more ticking.
3 weeks later bang in 2017 and a heart attack which ended up with a triple bypass.
We are not bullet proof.
Yesterday I was talking to someone whose partner had suspected heart issues in their late 20's. They were relaxed and didn't get the Holter monitor, to check, hopefully they will see sense and get checked out..
My missed diagnosis nearly cost me my life. After going to my GP many times, saying I have a dry throat for the first 3k of a run, and that's not normal.
My GP solution well stop running...
Some of you may say, well stop π That is not the answer. I knew because I live in my body that something was not right .... In fact the fact because I was fit is the reason I survived and came back to run for the South Australia team again in 2019.
Problem was I didn't fit the profile of a heart attack patient.
42, runner nope
Maybe 70, smoker, over weight no exercise might have more concerning to my GP
The take here is get checked out. I should have gone elsewhere to get a second opinion.
Keep on ticking. β€οΈ
