Round 9 vs Parafield Gardens ❤️🤍💙
Perfect cricket conditions for Round 9, and in a shock to absolutely no one, Captain Fenwick lost the toss… again. So off we marched into the field.
With Jayden away, the Chad grabbed the new ball and bowled and got to work with a tidy unfortunately no wicket in the first over, but the pressure was on.
Enter young Ryan who clearly had his Weet-Bix taking our first wicket in the 4th over thanks to Jamie “Safe Hands” Wegener, who refuses to drop anything. Ryan wasn’t done yet, grabbing another wicket in his next over to sit pretty at 2/17 by the end of the 6th.
Chad returned to claim his own wicket, and the field chat suddenly lifted when ex-Units player Jaffer walked out. Ryan sent one down, Jamie did Jamie things, and Jaffer was sent packing before he could unpack his batting form.
Then our youngest superhero Siddall Curtis decided it was his turn to shine taking two wickets in two overs like it was just another day at school sport. Jye and Chad cleaned up what was left, bowling Parafield Gardens out for 120 in the 28th over.
Back to our OG opening pair Deeble and Fenwick and off they went like they had dinner plans.
Five overs in, we were already 0/52, and Deeble was doing everything except applying for a demolition licence. With six massive sixes, no car in the carpark was safe. Someone check the insurance policy.
Unfortunately, his fireworks ended on 73 when he finally found a fielder instead of a fence.
Fenwick just kept doing Fenwick things knocking singles, rotating strike, and pretending he meant to lose the toss while new partner Thomas cruised along beside him. The boys wrapped it up by the 15th over, barely breaking a sweat.
After a couple of tough weeks, the lads finally got the reward they deserved strong bowling, entertaining batting, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
If the form continues, the carpark might need a helmet next week.
