Round 3 of the UBL saw the AU Waatu travel to Sydney in a matchup against the University of Sydney.

The Waatu women started slow in the first quarter, but a resurgence in the second and third quarter saw the them fight their way in front. A sudden fire alarm stopped play, but the women kept their foot on the pedal throughout the rest of the game, but ultimately, came just short of the win and saw them go down in a close 62-59 loss. Game MVP Sasha Hardin notched 16 points, 3 steals, and 5 rebounds, while Ella Turnbull assisted with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

The men’s team started hot with a 26-9 first quarter against the hosts and saw a dominant first half. The hosts however fought back valiantly to a close finish, but it was the travelling team of the AU Waatu who ultimately won the battle 93-90. It was Curtis Scott, fresh off an injury and in his first UBL game this season, who earned the MVP honours with 37 points, 7 3-points, and 4 steals, with Matthew Thomson dominated the backboard again with 10 rebounds.
