We can't promise this will be the last survey, but we have been told we desperately need voices in the City of Adelaide consultation survey as well.

There is a very valid push to reduce the amount of bitumen in the Parklands. We understand and support this. But it shouldn't be at the expense of our sport. CoA must prioritise cycling sport infrastructure and support the sports continuing use of Victoria Park.

The survey is quick, with lots of boxes to tick. (Survey link in comments)

Important comments to include:
VP is used by 1000s of cyclists every year for sport & rec. Minimising the bitumen may make the sport unviable.

Council must recognise VP as a key piece of cycling infrastructure, and not treat the sports use of the site as an afterthought

Victoria Park is about to undergo some major changes. To facilitate the development of the MotoGP track, all of the circuits we know and love are being removed. We will get a new track, but we need to ensure that we keep pressure on the government to ensure that cycling's use of the space is more than an overlooked footnote.

KEY TALKING POINTS
Cycling clubs need to be able to use the criterium track over the extended disruption period of the combined V8/MotoGP event

Victoria Park is the only traffic free road cycling sport venue in the entire state. Without it - the competitive road cycling will collapse

Recreational and competitive cycling needs to be recognised as a key user of Victoria Park. It is used by riders of all ages and abilities. From beginners through to those aiming for the Olympics and Tour de France. With the cycling clubs recording over 3000 individual entries across an already shortened season, it needs to be recognised as a primary user of the park.

NCC's Paige Squire is heading to Junior Track Worlds in Belgium later this month. These trips are largely self funded. NCC is proud to support our Juniors who make these teams, but some extra support from the community would help take some pressure of families who have already contributed so much!
