Hopping on the trend just because 😉

But honestly, what’s more chic than building a career around asking questions that make people stop, pause, and sometimes completely rethink the way they see themselves?

After 25+ years in HR and six years as an executive leadership coach, I still get a real thrill from this work.

I get to sit with brilliant, capable people who sometimes can’t see what I can see in them yet.

The leader who thinks they’re not ready.

The high-achiever who has achieved so much but still finds herself questioning whether she’s good enough.

The executive who is carrying so much pressure that they’ve forgotten what it feels like to lead with confidence.

And then we start asking questions.
Is that really true?
What are you assuming?
What would change if you trusted yourself here?
What do you actually want?

I love watching what happens when someone starts seeing themselves differently.

They walk into the next meeting differently. They make the decision they’ve been avoiding. They stop second-guessing every move. They start taking up space without feeling like they have to prove they deserve it.

That’s what I get to do every day.

And honestly, I’m very glad I chose this chapter of my career.

Overwhelm is incredibly common when you step into executive leadership.

There are more decisions to make, more people relying on you, and more expectations to hold.

But overwhelm isn’t always a sign that you have too much work.

Sometimes it’s a sign that you’re carrying too many priorities, decisions, expectations or responsibilities at once.

It can be a signal that something in the way you’re working or leading needs to change.

Save this for the next time you feel like you’re drowning, or send it to a leader who needs to hear it.

For a long time, I thought my HR career was the thing I was building towards.

But looking back, I can see that every conversation, every challenge, and every leader I supported was preparing me for this next chapter.

Stepping into coaching didn’t mean leaving my previous career behind.

It meant bringing together everything I had learned over 25 years as an HR leader and using it in a different way.

Today, I work with women stepping into leadership roles, navigating career transitions, and finding their confidence in the next stage of their journey. 💪

Being an effective leader isn’t about doing more.

It’s about being intentional with where your time, energy, and attention go.

Many leaders become overwhelmed because they’re constantly responding, solving problems, and carrying too many decisions at once.

Strong leadership requires space to think, clarity around what matters most, and the confidence to make decisions without carrying everything yourself.

Small changes in how you operate can have a big impact on how you lead.

If you’re a leader who feels like you’re always “on”, save this as a reminder to create space to lead.

Leadership growth doesn’t always feel like progress.

Sometimes it looks like small changes in how you show up every day:

1️⃣ You pause before reacting.
You’re learning to respond thoughtfully instead of letting pressure make decisions for you.

2️⃣You ask more questions than you give answers.
You’re moving from being the person who solves everything to the person who helps others think.

3️⃣You’re comfortable admitting what you don’t know.
You understand that leadership isn’t about having every answer. It’s about being willing to learn.

4️⃣ You make decisions even when they feel uncomfortable.
You recognise that waiting for perfect certainty can keep you stuck.

5️⃣You protect time to think.
You know being busy doesn’t always mean you’re being effective.

These are the moments where leadership starts to change.

You don’t suddenly feel like you have everything figured out, but slowly and gradually you start leading with more awareness, intention, and trust in yourself.

One of the biggest challenges I see with leaders stepping into bigger roles is that they wait to feel confident before they trust themselves.

But confidence usually comes after the action.

It grows when you make the decision, have the conversation, back yourself, and learn along the way.

You don’t need to have every answer to be a great leader. You need the self-trust to keep moving forward, even when things feel uncertain.

Save this for the days when you need the reminder, or share it with a leader who might need to hear it.

Stepping into a leadership role can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

A lot of newly promoted leaders assume they should feel confident straight away. They think they need to have all the answers, make perfect decisions, and prove they were the right person for the role.

But leadership is something you grow into.

The biggest shifts often happen when you stop trying to prove yourself and start trusting yourself.

As an executive leadership coach, I work with leaders who are navigating bigger responsibilities, difficult decisions, and the uncertainty that comes with stepping into a new level of leadership.

One of the hardest parts of becoming a leader? Letting go of the idea that you have to have all the answers.

Especially when you got there because people already trusted your expertise. Your first instinct is to keep proving it. Solve fast. Show you're capable. Stay the expert in the room.

But here's what I've seen in years of coaching leaders: the ones who grow fastest are the ones who get comfortable not knowing.

They pause instead of rushing to respond. They listen before they react. They ask the question that opens things up for everyone, not just themselves.

They're not afraid to say things like:
"Help me understand this better."
"What are we missing here?"
"What's the smartest way forward?"

That kind of openness makes people trust you more, rather than making you look incapable.

It's easy to assume you need another qualification, another promotion, or a few more years of experience before you're ready.

But sometimes what you really need is a different perspective.

I've seen leaders with years of experience realise they were already capable of far more than they gave themselves credit for. Once they started recognising the value they already brought, they approached opportunities with much more clarity and confidence.
