Congrats to squad athlete Tahlia Lienert, she finished in 2nd place in the heptathlon at the National Junior College Athletics Association outdoor nationals held last week in New Mexico.
Fantastic work by Tahlia as she finishes up her time at Cloud County after two years and heads to Jax State in Alabama for the next part of her US College adventure.

Now time to highlight some of the Northern Fast Trak Squad's junior athletes at the Australian Junior Nationals and the Australian Little Athletics Championships that were held in Brisbane from the 13th to the 20th of April. The athletes are junior, not sure the coaches are, a few grey hairs :)
A couple of messages gained from the athlete photos... Tom says 400m hurts but onto the Uni Nationals too, Bridie happy to compete in both the ALAC's and Junior Nationals in the LJ & TJ out of Mildura... smiles after TJ PB's and many >10m jumps, Audrey unleashed the javelin at both the Open (Sydney) and U20 (Brisbane) events, Hamish PB in his 110 Hurdles, HJ not the day he wanted... will come back stronger, Tyler brought his best to be 4th in the U16 200m, silver in the 4x100m and bronze in the 4x200m... not much left in the tank for his 100m though. Coaches pleased there wasn't too many clashes in the program so we could support well in Brissy.

It has been a little while since the Open Athletics Nationals competition in Sydney (8 - 12 April), finally have gathered a few of the Northern Fast Trak related photos together to throw into a post. Lots of decathlon action on day 1 & two... Logoh and Jack in action, assisted in competition by Dennis and a range of event specific coaches across the 10 events :)

We have had squad members in action in Sydney at Open Nationals in the Open/U20 decathlon on Thursday/Friday this week. Fantastic work by the boys (well men I guess 🙂 ).
Both Logoh and Jack delivered across their 10 events, with both getting a PB decath score, plus many Pb’s in each individual event.
I would like to introduce and congratulate Australia’s 2026 Open Men’s decathlon champion, our very own Logoh Tligi. What a performance by the big man! Special thanks to coaching input by John Rich, Steve Larsson, Andrew Fraser, Kym Simons, Tryphena Hewitt & Dennis Thring. Thanks also to all of the various squad/s athletes that keep these guys focussed, on track and accountable to be able to take on the gruelling two days of competition. It takes a bit to bring a decathlon together, Logoh and his coaches brought it together to allow Logoh to take the gold medal and the honour of being our national champion. Amazing work!
Jack competed in the U20 decathlon and manfully worked through the events fully knowing that he was not 100% prepared to deliver to his absolute potential. That said, his performance was impressive, he worked through some injury concerns to get a very nice decathlon points score with personal bests and season bests scattered through his events. I think it might have whet his appetite to have another crack at the 10 events next season.
Proud of both of our boys who took on and endured the toughest event line up in athletics. Time to put your feet up for a bit to get some recovery!

Here are some videos and photos of NDAC/Northern Fast Trak Vs 'The Aussies' on Friday March 13th in both the men's and women's 4x100 relays. An exciting night, where sometimes when you put your hand up for something, much more than what you expected is delivered. All of our athletes loved rubbing shoulders & then racing against the Open and U20 Australian Relay teams. The NDAC Open Men's team breaking the club record which was last set back in 1991... inspired by coming up against the best in Oz!

What an exciting Friday night for Fast Trak tonight at Mile End. Squad members, NDAC athletes, plus some athletes who have trained with us over the years, got to race at the Australian Athletics Invitational event. Our opposition was pretty hot tonight. The highlight being racing against a number of the Australian Relay teams in the 4x100m relays. The attached team/result lists have us out there competing with Australia's best.

Our State Champion Decathlete and squad 'front page' man Logoh Tligi has just added an 11th event to his repertoire! In the throws Logoh can throw discus, shot, javelin, hammer.... & now Tuna! Logoh ventured to Port Lincoln last weekend for the Tunarama Festival looking to take on a different competition after his decathlon win from the previous weekend.
He wanted to win the tuna toss at the festival... and he did just that by throwing the 10kg 'flying fish' 24.39m! :) Logoh's sister even had a go, making the final but showing that tuna tossing technique is probably not hereditary! Haha
Worth noting that the world record for the tuna toss, set at Australia's Tunarama Festival, is 37.23 meters, achieved in 1998 by former Olympic hammer thrower and Commonwealth Games duel Gold medalist Sean Carlin, who used to coach Logoh in hammer and was his school teacher at Trinity College, Gawler. A Shout out to Sean!

Saturday the 10th January was the introduction of the Athletics SA 60m State Championships. Northern Fast Trak had a number of our athletes in action across a range of age groups. For Coaches Dennis Thring and John Rich it was a bit of a juggle as we also had the Men's Decathlon to coach on the same day.
Proud to say we came away with a few 60m State Champions :) Well done team!
Tom Harding took out the U20 Mens event (7.14 secs), keeping his cool as a couple of the favourites were DQed for false starts. Obi Igbokwe also competed in the U20 final, finishing 6th.
Danny Podgorelec took out the O50 Mens event in 8.07 secs
Lachy Bell won the U14 race in 9.22 secs
We also had Pacifique Halinda running through the Open Mens heats and into the final finishing 6th with a 7.09s, equaling his PB. Tyler Bell finishing in 2nd in the U16 race in 7.47 secs. Hamish Green 3rd in the U18 event in 7.58 secs.
Fantastic work by squad members in an event that is over very quickly after the starters gun goes off :)
