MODBURY FOOTBALL CLUB | WOMEN’S A GRADE COACH 2027

Modbury Football Club is seeking applications for the position of Women’s A Grade Head Coach for the 2027 season.

Established in 1862, the Modbury Football Club is one of South Australia’s proudest and most historic community football clubs. While we honour our rich history, our focus is firmly on building a strong future for our growing women’s football program.

Competing in Adelaide Football League Division 4, our women’s team has established a positive culture built on community, development, enjoyment and opportunity.

We are now seeking a passionate and enthusiastic coach who can help lead the next chapter of our women’s program.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to:

Develop and support players of all experience levels

Foster a positive, inclusive and enjoyable team environment

Build strong connections with players, families and the wider club

Work alongside a supportive football department and committed volunteer group

Play a key role in the continued growth of women’s football at Modbury

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for coaching, leadership and player development
• Builds positive relationships and strong team culture
• Possesses strong communication and organisational skills
• Can create an engaging and enjoyable football environment
• Supports the development of emerging leaders among the playing group
• Holds AFL Coaching Accreditation (or is willing to obtain accreditation)

The Modbury Football Club is inviting applications for the position of A Grade Head Coach for the 2027 season.
Established in 1862, Modbury is a club steeped in history, tradition and success. From our first recorded game against the Adelaide Football Club through to 18 A Grade premierships, the Hawks have been a proud part of South Australian football for more than 160 years.
But while we respect our history, we are firmly focused on the future.
Our senior program has built a strong platform in recent seasons, with the A Grade competing in Adelaide Football League Division 2 and a developing football department supporting our A, B, C and D Grade programs.
We are now seeking an ambitious, driven and committed coach to take the next step with our A Grade program.
This is an opportunity to lead the senior football program of a club with:

▪️ A strong and passionate playing and supporter base
▪️ A developing senior football pathway
▪️ A commitment to developing our own players
▪️ A strong club culture built around community, connection and success

• Ability to develop players across all levels, from emerging talent to experienced athletes
• Capacity to lead, mentor, and support both a coaching and player leadership group
• Demonstrated ability to recruit players and contribute to the ongoing growth of the men’s program
• This role is ideal for a coach who is passionate about player development, values strong club culture, and is committed to driving success both on and off the field.

250 GAMES FOR THE BISON JAKE PHILLIPS 🦬🦬

This Saturday, club legend Jake “Flipper” Phillips will play game number 250 for the Modbury Football Club.

Flippers senior football journey started back in 2012 as a skinny 16 year old putting his hand up to play Div 2 B Grade footy in a year when some fresh young talent was very much needed. Flip was a huge contributor during that season and his debut followed a string of good performances where he has stayed.

In the years that followed, Flip would become a mainstay in our A grade and was an integral part of our 2014 and 2016 A grade flags. During these successful years, Flip was able to build a strong reputation as as a well loved Modbury man both on and off the field, learning his trade from some of the most successful, loyal and passionate players and leaders our club had ever seen.

It was the years that followed this highly successful period, when things got bleak, that Flip would become a leader at a time when it was needed most. While its easy to measure someones impact to MFC by the flags theyve won, or how they performed when all was going well, those that have been around long enough hold a special place for the players that step up when things are tough.

Not only has Flipper been a great servant and leader of our club, he has also contributed significant time to coaching and developing our next crop of superstars. For a man that loves his saturday nights, its equally as impressive he was also willing to give up his Sunday to help our next generation and strengthen the bridge from juniors to seniors.

Our club is blessed to have people like Jake in the brown and gold week in and week out. Its always special to see one of our juniors flourish into a such a great footballer, and an even better person.

The great man bleeds brown and gold and as a football club we could not be prouder of this fantastic achievement from one of our favourite sons. A key offield pillar for our young group, we wish him all the best tomorrow as he brings up 250!

He heads to Europe next week, so let’s make sure there’s no blood pacts agreed and that he has a safe arrival after a big win to close out season 2026 🦅

THANK YOU, DANIEL MILLER 🦅🦅

After 6 seasons at the helm, Daniel Miller has announced that he will step down as Head Coach of the Modbury Football Club at the conclusion of the 2026 season.

Milzy has given an enormous amount to our football program, leading from the front and helping shape the standards, culture and direction of our senior football teams. When he took over the program, the club had slid from higher divisions and was sitting in the bottom half of division 3. With Milzy at the helm, he was able to revitalise our program and create an environment and culture that will continue to live on as we are now sitting in an immensely better position as a strong division 2 club.

Beyond the results and match days, his commitment to our players, coaches and the broader Modbury Football Club has been immense. The time, energy and passion that goes into coaching a senior football side often happens behind the scenes, and we are incredibly grateful for everything Milzy has contributed.

While we are disappointed to see him step away from the role, we fully respect his decision and are looking forward to finishing the 2026 season strongly alongside him, so make sure you get out and support him and the A grade boys this Saturday at home!
