🏏👏 Blind Cricket South Australia congratulates Sophie Patton on her outstanding presentation as guest speaker at the June Cricket Lovers SA meeting hosted by friend of BCSA David Kempe.

Sophie shared her inspiring sporting journey as a blind athlete, highlighting her achievements across multiple sports, including representing South Australia in Blind Cricket, Tennis, and Cycling, where she proudly won a Bronze Medal at the World Championships.

Her determination, resilience, and commitment to sport continue to inspire those around her, and we are incredibly proud to have Sophie as a member of our Blind Cricket SA family.

Well done Sophie on representing our sport so brilliantly and thank you for sharing your story with the Cricket Lovers community! 🏏👏

SEEKING EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - CENTENARY CELEBRATION WEEKEND

In 1926, the first ever state vs state blind cricket game was held between Blind Cricket South Australia and the Victorian Blind Cricket Association. To celebrate this, we are hosting a very exciting celebration event with a number of great things planned including:
- A historical tour of blind cricket in South Australia
- Fun T30 game with the Aussie ball
- Two T20s between the current Blind Cricket South Australia and Victorian Blind Cricket Association sides
- A celebration event on the Saturday evening for everyone to come together and celebrate 100 years of bringing states together
Date: 23rd–24th of October

*Please note everyone is welcome to attend the weekend, although places in the games will be reserved for players from Victoria and South Australia.*

Blind Cricket SA volunteers Phil Penn, David Penn, Amy Roe and Adrian Roe were honoured to attend the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing’s volunteer celebration event on invitation from Blind Sports SA.

The evening celebrated and recognised the incredible contribution volunteers make across sport, recreation and racing in South Australia, with more than 250 people in attendance.

Guests enjoyed an inspiring keynote presentation from Australian netball icon Liz Ellis AO, along with a panel discussion featuring Rory Sloane, Jenny Mann and award-winning volunteer Layan Saadeh.

Blind Cricket SA is proud to celebrate all volunteers whose passion and dedication help make inclusive sport possible.

🏆 We are incredibly proud to announce that Blind Cricket SA has been recognised with the Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion Award, sponsored by the Sports Excellence Scholarship Fund, at the Sports SA South Australian Sports Awards.

This award reflects the commitment, passion and hard work of our entire Blind Cricket SA community in creating opportunities for women and girls in blind cricket and ensuring our sport is welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Over the past four years we have proudly:
• Increased female participation across senior and junior programs
• Supported women from diverse cultural backgrounds and players living with disability
• Achieved more than 40% female representation on our Board
• Played our first majority female club match
• Seen SA players represent Australia in the first Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup
• Supported female players, coaches and umpires to grow as leaders within our sport

This recognition belongs to every player, volunteer, coach, umpire, family member and supporter who continues to help Blind Cricket SA grow both on and off the field.

Congratulations to all involved and thank you to Sports SA for this incredible honour. 💙🏏

🏏 Blind Cricket SA 2025/26 Annual Presentation Dinner 🏏
On Saturday 9th of May BCSA came together for a fantastic evening celebrating another great season of blind cricket in South Australia!
We were proud to recognise our players, volunteers and supporters after a strong season of 9 wins from 10 matches, along with outstanding state and international representation. Special congratulations to all involved in the Australian Women’s team campaigns and our State team’s efforts at the NCICs 👏

Can you Help!
This year marks the centenary of the first ever interstate game of Blind Cricket, when a team travelled from Victoria to play a team in Adelaide, in April 1926.
Blind Cricket SA plans to mark the centenary with events later this year.
Victorian Blind Cricket Association has been invited to travel to Adelaide to play a series of matches in October of this year. We also hope to hold social and fundraising events that weekend.

BCSA would like to put together a sub-committee to plan and run the weekend, so we're keen to hear from BCSA members who would like to be involved.

We're looking for people who would like to be part of things like planning events, organising fundraising, or making contact with past players, to encourage them to be part of the celebration.
