πŸ’› Today is R U OK? Day!

Community happens every day in our YMCA SA spaces. This R U OK? Day, we encourage you to take a moment and ask the question.

⚑ Here's the R U OK? Day 4️⃣ FOUR STEP PLAN to start the important conversation with someone you know who might be struggling:
1. Ask: Pick a good time and place, then ask how they're really going.
2. Listen: Take what they say seriously, without judging or rushing them.
3. Encourage action: Help them think through small steps, or point them towards support.
4. Check in: Follow up in a couple of weeks. Staying in touch matters.

From 1–21 September, we're getting behind AUSactive's Million Moves challenge, a national push to get more of us active. Right now, around 75% of Australians aren't moving enough to benefit their health. We want to help change that, one minute at a time.

Here's how it works: pledge to move for 15, 30 or 60 minutes a day for 21 days. Walk, swim, lift, stretch, dance, whatever gets you going. One minute of movement equals one move.

Movement is what we do every day, and this September we're inviting our community to pledge alongside us and help build the habit, together.

Sign up free at millionmoves.org.au and let's get moving.

Today is International Lifeguard Appreciation Day! πŸ’¦

With our lifesaving lifeguards continuing to look over the pools in our recreation aqua spaces, our yellow and red heroes are another reminder of how the YMCASA enacts the vision of building and growing wellness for all members in society, providing opportunities to develop social, mental and physical wellbeing.

A big shoutout to those today that keep us safe around water! πŸ’ž
