MASA Trophy update.
MASA held its grand final today at Skyhawks Aero Modellers. the finalist where Skyhawks and South Coast Model Aerosport Club. South Coast came away with the win and and the 2025 MASA trophy champions. This is the clubs 2nd championship in the 4 years running the series. Well done guys.
Todays final had it all, wind during the briefing, we could see a dust storm over angle vale heading our way, showers and finally to top it off a quick pause for lightning. But as we let these pass by, the comp the flying conditions was actually really good.
The finals consisted of a total of 5 task to perform (if needed). It was basically best of 5.
For those clubs that had attended the years comp and familiar with the task, the task where as follows:
Task 1 - Timed Flight (won by South Coast)
Task 2 - Sudden death (won by Skyhawks)
Task 3 - MASA roops (won by South Coast)
Task 4 - I'll be back (this was a draw)
Task 5 - Three threes (won by south coast)
It was a very close competition and members of both clubs should be very proud of their pilots.
I would like to thank the clubs of the metro series. This year we had a lot of disruptions from weather which ended up canceling 3 events, 2 of which were made up in clubs hosting their own catch up round. The grand final was also canceled last week due to weather and luckily we were able to run it today.
Now to the Country series.
This year we thought we would try a country series to include as many clubs as we could in this competition format. We had a total of 5 clubs attend throughout the year from all over the state. The winner of the country series was the highest points for the year. The winner for this first country series was Broken Hill Model Flying Club Inc. with second Port Augusta model aero club.
This was another very well attend series from all the country clubs bringing out pilots that would not normally attend competitions. Again I would like to thank all of the clubs that attended during the year
I would like to thank our sponsors Modelflight and the Model Aeronautical Association Australia for their support throughout the year. Final I would like to thank Sean Flaherty, Jeffery Ramsay and Ned Kelly for there support throughout the year in helping run the event.
I look forward to next year.
