In all the years I have fished at Loch Borralie (and that's a fair few) I have never witnessed a feeding frenzy such as the one that myself and Paul Flynn enjoyed this August. What started as a wild grey drizzly day ended in a three hour bonanza with everything imaginable happening. The sun came out and the wind funneled round behind the far north east hillside, creating a calmer patch of water but not without regular blustery gusts coming in from both sides. The heather flies decided to come out with the sun and as they took flight the gusts simply smacked them right back down again. Only, this time they were landing on the water and oh, how the trout loved it! The sun came and went but the fish were simply congregated themselves into the top corner of the loch and picked them off at will, much like the two lucky anglers who were there at the right place and at the right time! I have no idea how many we landed but there went all the way from a pound right up to the 4lb mark. Brilliant memories spent with brilliant company!
Next year's dates will be out soon!
