Debattierklub Wien was founded in 2004 and became one of the most active debating societies in Europe. We meet weekly at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and at the University of Vienna for debates and workshops. We also frequently participate in international debate tournaments including the European (EUDC) and World (WUDC) Championships. In addition we hold many seminars and works

Our last VIV 26 post is dedicated to the incredible people behind the scenes who made this tournament possible.

Thank you to everyone who sacrificed their free time to organize this tournament, slept less than three hours during preparations, carried countless heavy boxes, prepared food, planned socials, developed the concept, created content, managed social media, promoted VIV, searched for sponsors, registered participants, and supported the event in every possible way.
Your dedication, hard work, and passion turned VIV 26 into the amazing tournament it was. 💫

This post is dedicated to the participants of Vienna Intervarsity 2026! We hope you loved the tournament as much as we loved hosting you, and that you’ve left Vienna with a phone full of photos and a mind full of memories to flex to your family, friends, and debaters.

It’s time to finally look back at Vienna Intervarsity 2026!🏆

Back in April, we had 92 teams and 70 judges come together in Vienna for an amazing weekend of debating, socials and unforgettable memories.

We’re excited to share some of our favorite moments from the Vienna Novice Cup, which our club proudly hosted on March 21!💫

This year, we welcomed over 100 participants - breaking last year’s record and raising the bar once again.

While we are getting ready for VIV 26☕️, we are happy to share with you our successes at the Sofia WUDC 2026!🇧🇬

✨️DK Wien participated this year with a total of 5 teams (Anton Gonta & Marina Kojić, Mira Eberdorfer & Victor Bervoets, Aleksandra Durbazeva & Callum Duffy, Dominik Rzecki & Alina Ulrich, Dominika Kokoszka & Florian Ratzinger) and 5 judges (Dean Velikov, Felix Baldauf, Paula Breyer, Oliver Huth, Christopher Löwenstein).✨️

🎉Teams Vienna A (Marina & Anton) and Vienna B (Victor & Mira) both broke Open!🎊

Introducing our stacked judge line-up for Sofia WUDC 2026 🇧🇬

Paula Breyer 🏆🌍
ESL Worlds champ (Madrid), PDQ Chair + Open Final Panel (Glasgow Euros), ESL Semi Panel (Copenhagen Euros), Paula has done it all. She also casually knows every national flag on earth so if your geopolitics is shaky, don’t bluff. 🚩

Christopher Löwenstein🖨️🔧
Chris is the proud owner of three 3D printers, which feels exactly right for someone who’s going to efficiently delib and put rounds cleanly into ballots!

Felix Baldauf 📈🧠
With 20+ judge breaks, Felix is a force to be reckoned with, but even he has his weaknesses. Felix is allergic to loud socials (40 dB max please) and is the one to go for for delibs that are crisp, calm, and ruthlessly clear. Also: would make a great mayor. 🏛️

Oliver Huth 🤖🏄‍♂️
Oliver's an advanced Computing honours student that has joined us all the way from sunny Sydney after making the news for building a bot to help people book driving tests, and still finding time to surf. Expect the same vibe on panels and in delibs: cool as a cucumber 😎 🥒

Alina’s Sofia highlight so far has been the Blood on the Clocktower game night, where the real main event of Sofia WUDC 2026 started and turned everyone into a philosopher, a prosecutor, and a best friend and enemy at once. 🕯️🩸🕵️‍♀️

If you see a circle of people mid-argument, mid-laugh, mid-“wait, but why did you say that???”, that's probably where you'll find Alina! ✨
