Carl Walter Steiner 🇦🇹 climbs to heights in the World Billiards Rankings never reached by an Austrian player before.

Following his two 9th-place finishes at the WBL double-header in Winnipeg 🇨🇦, Austria’s most active international billiards ambassador has risen to No. 21 in the world — a new record ranking for an ÖSBV player.

Paul Schopf from ASKÖ Paul Schopf Snooker Club/Trainingszentrum records the highest break of 1️⃣0️⃣5️⃣ points at Grand Prix Round 5 in Krems-Mautern, making it the allover highest break recorded in the 2026 Austrian 🇦🇹 Snooker League campaign so far.

This mark can still be surpassed at the final elite Grand Prix event in Graz in early October, at the Austrian Championships in January, or, of course, at any other ÖSBV tournament across the various categories.

Oskar Charlesworth from Heeres- Snooker und English Billiards Club regains the lead in the rankings after Round 5 with his Grand Prix victory at the start of the autumn season in Krems-Mautern.

He therefore remains firmly in contention to finish the season as the No. 1 ranked player, following his first national championship title, which he won at the ÖSBV Finals in January this year.

After a 2️⃣9️⃣3️⃣🤝5️⃣0️⃣2️⃣ defeat to Ryan Mears 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Carl Walter Steiner 🇦🇹 drops out of the PABSA Pan Am Classic in Winnipeg 🇨🇦 but again finishes in the brilliant 9th place, climbing up the World Billiards rankings.

Ranked No. 1 Lukas Stötzer from ASKÖ Paul Schopf Snooker Club/Trainingszentrum leads the field at the star-studded Grand Prix opener of the autumn season.

In addition to the four qualifiers from the regional Challenges of Round 4 of the 2026 Austrian 🇦🇹 Snooker League, 12 of the current top 13 players in the rankings have entered.

Beyond the top 10 places, players are competing for a spot in the top 24 of the 2026 final rankings. Under the system changes being introduced in 2027, this will mean a guaranteed place in the first half of the next Grand Prix season.

The fifth Grand Prix of the season will take place on August 29–30 at HSV-Krems/Mautern.
