Day 10 - the bonus: After a good sleep we enjoy a rich breakfast and another swim in the mineral water pool of Bad Vöslau, before taking on the last 40k to Vienna. We're accompanied by Vroni and my parents, who were driving the backup car so far. I show Moh the Mosque of Bad Vöslau and we take the Wr. Neustadt Canal north. Reaching Vienna, we take out our flags and promenade along the public places and monuments. On Karlsplatz we meet the first Algerian, who studies Violin and Composition in Vienna. Punctually at 18:00 we reach the Rathaus (townhall) and after a short photosession we enjoy the evening with some close friends in a Pub around the corner.

I would like to say a big thank you to all our supporters along the way. You've been a great motivation for us. It's been a great experience. Thank you!

Day 9 - Hoamat! (Homeland!): Unfortunately we can't get Moh's chain fixed in the morning, so I take on the remaining 150km to Bad Vödlau alone and make the first 30k before going for a second breakfast in Bruck/Mur. From thereon I follow the river Mürz upstream until I reach Mürzzuschlag. The bike paths are very good and the landscape lush green. From Mürzzuschlag I take the old Bundesstraße to Semmering, heavily used in former times and now a big playfield for people like me. Just before the Semmering, the clouds make way for a beautiful blue sky. After a short stop at the skislopes, where now the downhill bikers amuse themselves, I enjoy a long downhill ride, taking me past the pilgrimage site of Maria Schutz, through Gloggnitz, nearly up to Neunkirchen. From thereon it's all flat. I take a last look back to the mountains I just crossed and head north through the plains of the Wiener Becken. A light south-east wind helps me pedal even faster as I approach my hometown of Bad Vöslau, where I arrive at 15:30. An icecream and a swim in the mineral water of Bad Vöslau later, I'm all happy to have made it!!!

Day 8 - a little extra mileage: Moh and I start off on a chilly automn morning from Ossiach. We head east some 40k over Feldkirchen to St. Veit and then north along the local expressway Bundesstraße 317. Cycle paths are rare and we sometimes have difficulties finding them. At some point the cycle path is excellent and i'm so happy that we pedal even faster... to find out some time later, that we went into the wrong valley gor 20km. After a lot of swearing I decide, it doesn't help, we have to go back. Having re-joined the correct route, I invite Moh for lunch, but even now he is reluctant to eat pork and drink beer. Maybe i can convince him till Vienna 😉. Having made some 20km further, Moh's chain starts jumping and he can bearly advance. After some hesitating, he decides to take the train for the rest and I continue alone for the remaining 80km. With our little detour it's already late and I have to move fast. Luckily the saddle of Perchau comes up after only 5k and a long descent follows. I follow the river Mur up to Judenburg and take a last stop at Zeltweg, known for it's F1 race. But today my only target is to reach St. Michael before dusk. A kind cyclist shows me the right path and I'm lucky to follow the river Mur until I reach St. Michael at exactly 19:00, too tired to even take a picture with the city sign.
