On November 10, 2025, the Austrian Cricket Association had the opportunity to meet with the Austrian Olympic Committee at an inspiring “come-together meeting” to exchange ideas about our future goals.

President Mag. Horst Nussbaumer, Secretary General Mag. Florian Gosch, Head of Sport Christoph Sieber from the Austrian Olympic Committee, Chairman Bilal Zalmai, BSc. And Operations Officer Mag. Marianna Baracskai from the Austrian Cricket Association discussed topics such as:
the importance/status quo of cricket at the 2028 Olympic Games in LA
how our association is structured, how many clubs we have as members, development programs for young people, trainer programs, and how we can raise awareness of cricket in Austria through improved promotion.

Mr. Bilal Zalmai discussed the possibilities with ÖOC regarding our training opportunities for additional cricket fields and indoor halls in Vienna as well. In this regard, we received valuable advice on how we can achieve our goals more effectively through better networking among other Austrian sport federations.

It should also be mentioned that in Austria, funding for 2026 has been cut by approximately 10%, which poses a major challenge for sports associations. They are therefore even more reliant on themselves and must seek other alternatives for financing.

For this reason, another very important topic was addressed, namely sponsorship, which we will be focusing on more in the future so that we can further promote and develop our beloved cricket with the support of sports enthusiasts and companies.
