What a beautiful World Premiere at Filmfest St. Anton for VADDAS last Friday. We and 500+ people were thrilled to see all those great movies about all kinds of outdoors sports. What a great selection by the festival!

VADDAS follows a group of skiers on a journey to the far north. Their destination is a remote mountain region where steep lines and the vastness of the Arctic landscape create the setting for an extraordinary freeride adventure.

Shortly before departure, however, it becomes clear that the trip will not go as planned: in the small 500-person village that is meant to serve as their starting point, the gas station burned down — a seemingly minor event that suddenly changes everything. Between logistical uncertainty and the search for alternatives, the film becomes a story about patience, resilience, and the allure towards the unknown. As the sun finally rises, the journey reaches the descent they have been working towards all along.

GOLD - A Movie

This experimental ski film approaches the mountain from a different perspective. Shot exclusively during the golden hour — the most beautiful yet fleeting time of day — the light is unique, but it lies close to darkness: ascents begin in the night, and descents end in shadow. When temperatures are too mild, the snow can change so drastically that the effort of the climb is barely reflected in the descent. Complemented by footage captured with a thermal imaging camera, the film presents unfamiliar visuals that emphasize the interplay of light and temperature. Combined with an
original sound composition, a dense atmosphere emerges in which image and sound intertwine. Contrasts and warmth within the cold element form the foundation of the film.
