AUSTRIAN NATIONAL SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2018:
FLORIAN NÜSSLE WINS 3RD STRAIGHT TITLE
Florian Nüßle (Bulls) is Austrian National Snooker Champion again! The 17-year-old player won his third straight title at the BLZ Vienna on Sunday (20 January).
In a repeat of last year's final, Florian defeated Andreas Ploner (CSC), also a three-time Austrian champion (2012, 2013, 2015), in a decider, 5:4.
Florian lost no frame in his three matches leading up to the final and hit a 111 century for the highest break of the two-day tournament. In the other half of the draw, Andreas dropped a single frame on his way to the final.
Florian had the better start and went 2:0 ahead courtesy of a series of smaller breaks. Andreas hit back with breaks of 48, 74 and 50 to level the final again (2:2) before the interval.
Florian dominated the first two frames after the match resumed and with breaks of 40 and 62 he opened up a two-frame cushion again (4:2) - but the final woas far from over yet.
Andreas digged deep again, had a 47 to reduce his deficit to 4:3 and shortly afterwards added the eighth frame as well to draw level again (4:4). The decider, however, became a one-sided affair as Florian took it convincingly 74-0 to wrap up the victory.
The final standings:
1. Florian Nüßle
2. Andreas Ploner
3. Mario Bodlos & Manuel Pomwenger
