AUSTRIAN NATIONAL SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2018:
FLORIAN NÜSSLE WINS 3RD STRAIGHT TITLE

Florian Nüßle (Bulls) is Austrian National Snooker Champion again! The 17-year-old player won his third straight title at the BLZ Vienna on Sunday (20 January).

In a repeat of last year's final, Florian defeated Andreas Ploner (CSC), also a three-time Austrian champion (2012, 2013, 2015), in a decider, 5:4.

Florian lost no frame in his three matches leading up to the final and hit a 111 century for the highest break of the two-day tournament. In the other half of the draw, Andreas dropped a single frame on his way to the final.

Florian had the better start and went 2:0 ahead courtesy of a series of smaller breaks. Andreas hit back with breaks of 48, 74 and 50 to level the final again (2:2) before the interval.

Florian dominated the first two frames after the match resumed and with breaks of 40 and 62 he opened up a two-frame cushion again (4:2) - but the final woas far from over yet.

Andreas digged deep again, had a 47 to reduce his deficit to 4:3 and shortly afterwards added the eighth frame as well to draw level again (4:4). The decider, however, became a one-sided affair as Florian took it convincingly 74-0 to wrap up the victory.

The final standings:
1. Florian Nüßle
2. Andreas Ploner
3. Mario Bodlos & Manuel Pomwenger

IBSF WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2017:
FLORIAN NÜSSLE CONTINUES SENSATIONAL RUN

The sensational run of 15-year-old Florian Nüßle in the Men's competition at the International Billiards & Snooker Federation World Snooker Championships 2017 in Doha, Qatar, just keeps going on!

In the quarter-finals on Sunday morning (Nov. 26), Florian earned a convincing 6:2 victory to reach the last four. Joined by competitors from India and Iran (twice), Florian is the only European player left in the tournament.

In the semi-finals, Florian will meet Pankaj Advani, the multiple world snooker and billiards champion and former Main Tour professional from India. The best-of-13 match will start at 15:00 hrs CET.

Also, Amir Sarkhosh and Ehsan Heydari Nezhad will meet in an all-Iranian semi-final.

Florian had the better start in his quarter agaist Lee Chun Wai of Hong Kong and took a 2:0 lead after hitting a 64 break. Wai recovered with an excellent 119, and then got an opportunity to level at 2:2 despite a 63 break by Florian. However, Wai missed the black off its spot while clearing the colours, leaving Florian an ideal chance to go 3:1 up.

In the next frame, Florian let slip a chance to increase his lead to 4:1 up as he missed the green while attempting to clear up. But the young Austrian kept his composure, remained very focused and was the more consistent player of the two.

Florian added a 71 break to go 5:2 up, and wrapped up the victory in frame eight. With just 13 points left on the table and already needing snookers, Wai left the pink pottable in front of a centre pocket, enabling Florian to close out the match.

The ÖSBV congratulates Florian once more on his truly impressive achievement and wishes him all the best against world class player Advani!

Florian, enjoy this experience to the fullest!
