What makes a yoga studio feel like a place you belong?
For us, it begins with the practice... but it doesn’t end there.
We wanted Manas to be a space where you can arrive as you are. Where different bodies, identities, orientations, ages, religious and cultural backgrounds, and levels of experience can share the same room without feeling they need to perform or fit a particular image of yoga.
That intention lives in the bigger things — how we teach, the values we ask our teachers to uphold, the way we think about accessibility (including a sliding scale, because belonging shouldn’t depend on what you can afford), and the way we practise yoga beyond asana.
But it also lives in very ordinary things.
☕ Tea waiting in the kitchen.
🍎 Fruit and nuts on the table.
📚 Books to pick up and browse.
🛋️ Cushions to settle into.
🌿 A terrace where a quick conversation can turn into an hour.
None of it requires a class booking. Come in, sit down, stay a while.
And, hopefully, the feeling that nobody is rushing you out the door when class ends.
Because community isn’t created by saying “we are a community.” It grows through the small moments of staying, talking, listening, sharing and getting to know the people practising beside you — what we think of as kapwa: the sense that your wellbeing and mine aren’t really separate.
We care deeply about creating a space where yoga is practiced with integrity — not only in what happens on the mat, but in how we meet one another off it.
Come for the practice. Stay for a tea. Stay for a conversation.
You’re welcome at Manas as you are 🧡
