Marina Gibson is a certified Single and Double Handed Fly Fishers International casting instructor, author of Cast Catch Release, guide, and passionate conservationist. She founded The Northern Fishing School at Swinton Estate in 2019, now teaching over 400 people annually, and co-founded the Cancer and Pisces Trust, supporting cancer sufferers through angling and the outdoors. After leaving city life to pursue fly fishing full time, Marina built a global following of 180K+, using her platform to promote salmon conservation, environmental awareness, and the wellbeing benefits of fishing. She is an ambassador for LOOP Tackle, YETI, Costa Sunglasses, Atlantic Salmon Trust, GWCT, Angling Trust, and Tackling Minds, and serves as a trustee for River Action UK. Marina has spent over a decade hosting women’s and children’s fishing events, and in 2025 co-founded Little Waders, a family-focused initiative encouraging parents and children to learn and fish together. Her book, Cast Catch Release, was published internationally in 2024, and she and her husband, Stephan Dombaj (Fly Fishing Nation Media), now lease Bywell Salmon Fishing on the River Tyne. Today’s going to be hard to beat.

I’m so passionate about making fishing as fun as possible for kids, and I get to do it alongside my friend Kel for . We both live busy lives, so we’ll only ever run a handful of these days a year, but when we do, we bring all the games and all the fun.

Thank you to YETI Europe for supporting this one. It’s a privilege to work with a company that supports so many local and grassroots events, and puts the next generation right at the heart of what they do.

We had casting games in the park, including popping balloons and Honeyhole, and learnt all about the lifecycle of the Atlantic salmon: why it matters so much, and how important it is to protect everything going on in and around the river - using the Atlantic Salmon Trust board illustration. Fish themed face painting by Inflatafun Ripon, which was very popular, and we also caught three fish 🎉 and all were quickly released.

All with the most stunning backdrop at Swinton Estate.

Huge thanks to our wonderful team of guides: Stephan Fly Fishing Nation, Neil and Gary. And the LW cupcakes were delicious yet again.

It was an honour to be demoing again in the fishing village at The Game Fair this weekend with Fly Fishing Nation.

We got to catch up with friends and finally meet people we’ve “known” for years but never actually met in person.

Thank you to everyone who came to see us.
Taking Aria was next level madness, which is why we didn’t get as much time to say hello to everyone as we’d have liked.
