Estancia Ranquilco is a family-owned and operated working ranch and guest lodge in the Andean foothills of Northern Patagonia, Argentina. The 100,000 acres are home to 1000 head of cattle, 150 horses, 400 goats, a small herd of merino/corriedale sheep, and countless other wild animals. has been splitting his time between Ranquilco and his home in Northern California since the age of 12. hosts guests at the ranch lodge, and leads mountain horse packing trips into the surrounding countryside and Andean mountains. His high country pack trips are great adventures – ride through river valleys, mountain passes, and alpine lakes into Ranquilco's summer grazing lands near the border with Chile. Guests can also stay at the lodge and take day rides, swim and fish in the river, lounge with a book, and participate in the workings of an off-the-grid community. Father Ashley Carrithers and daughter Sky Carrithers live in Argentina, splitting their time between Ranquilco and the winter grazing grounds, Estancia Colipilli. Ashley manages a volunteer program, where people from around the world come to learn and work on the ranch. Sky runs the cattle business and cares for the entire herd of beautiful criollo horses.

This group right here is everything - the hardest working, kindest, most talented, creative, and generous of spirit crew. We’ve lost count of how many guests have said, “the place is amazing but it’s the people that make it”. We couldn’t agree more. To all of you - thank you for making this wild ride such a joyful one, and for sharing life. We’re closing out the season with enormous gratitude.
