Learning there are other Ganchos in life 🤣

Last week's newsletter inspired me to share I often get asked whether dancers ever stop learning, and how my short answer is I hope not 😄

You might know already how much I look forward to summer in Vienna ☀️ and in addition to the sun, ImPulsTanz Festival makes me love this time so much.

It's the time of the year I move the most (yeah, even if I work with movement the whole year 😅). It recharges my batteries, not just the physical and mental, it inspires me, makes me feel alive and happier, looking forward to what comes.

Today started my 3rd week and the last of 5 workshops I chose to dive into this year.

Half of them strongly connected to the path I've been cultivating for more than a decade... Hours observing, diving inwards, experimenting, asking questions, reaffirming that something as ordinary as walking can keep revealing new layers when you look closely enough.

One that challenged me last year and got me to love it brought me back to it for a second time 🤸🏽‍♀️❤️

And now one I never thought I'd be ever trying out 😄

I'm no "push to get out of your comfort zone" team (if you're my friend or have been to my classes, you know I tend to support that in softer ways), mostly letting the body-mind find its places and respecting its pace.

Building those places of inner support and allowing the process to unfold can open surprising doors. The body starts asking for something new and the mind can follow.

And somehow along the way, one might even find themself learning to punch while this song hilariously plays in the background 🤣 as I did today.

That's one of the reasons I still love what I do.

Every discipline I explore gives me new ways of understanding movement, learning, the body, the mind, the emotions and how we connect to ourselves and others.

Infinite doors to keep coming back to tango (and life) with fresher eyes and better questions.

I was already curious about the next chapter and now even more 🔥

And you? What's your body asking you for?

One of the things I love most about tango is that it has never been only about dancing.

It's a way of walking through life... Of making music visible.

It's staying after class because the conversation is too interesting to leave, sharing food around a table, laughing at our own mistakes... discussing orchestras, poetry, football or life with people we met because one day we decided to learn how to embrace another human being 🫂🎶

In other words: it's culture.

That's the atmosphere I try to cultivate around everything we do 💞 and I'm so grateful people who resonate with this spirit keep arriving and co-creating such a space.

In times when many claim tango is dying, I keep thinking: Tango is over a century old.

Yet it has survived...

Only because every generation found its own way of keeping it alive 🔥

This weekend we're celebrating that 🎉

I'm delighted to welcome Alan Forte, teacher, dancer and musician from Buenos Aires, for a weekend dedicated to something that transforms a dancer's experience way more than learning another figure: understanding how music becomes movement ✨

We'll spend two days exploring musicality through the Tango Immersion Weekend · July edition with Alan Forte from ARG, starting today with a bonus class with me to prepare the body before diving into the workshops with Alan.

Tomorrow we'll continue with:
✨ a new session of the Tango & Movement Pedagogical Path for those curious about movement learning and teaching,
✨ two workshops with Alan where we'll explore the particular character of Vals and Milonga,
✨ closing the weekend with a very special edition of our Milonga Itinerante ❤ monthly edition:

Alan will play live 🎶
Our social lounge will be waiting 🍷 Feel free to contribute to the common table 😉
We'll cheer together ⚽ 🇦🇷 🎉
And, of course, plenty of dancing 🔥

Often the most memorable Tandas begin long before the music starts 🫂🎶 Whether you join us for the full weekend or simply come to the Práctica today or Milonga tomorrow, you're warmly welcome 🤗

Looking forward to sharing this weekend with you ❤️
