Chess Boxing Global is also in charge of the urban amateur chessboxing format "Intellectual Fight Club�". The basic idea in chessboxing is to combine the #1 t

hinking sport and the #1 fighting sport into a hybrid that demands the most of its competitors – both mentally and physically. In a chessboxing fight two opponents play alternating rounds of chess and boxing. The contest starts with a round of chess, followed by a boxing round, followed by another round of chess and so on. A contest consists of 11 rounds, 6 rounds of chess, 5 rounds of boxing. A round of chess takes 3 minutes. Each competitor has 9 minutes on the chess timer. A round of boxing takes 3 minutes. Between the rounds there is a 1 minute pause, during which competitors change their gear. The contest is decided by: checkmate (chess round), exceeding the time limit (chess round), retirement of an opponent (chess or boxing round), KO (boxing round), or referee decision (boxing round). If the chess game ends in a stalement, the opponent with the higher score in boxing wins. If there is an equal score, the opponent with the black pieces wins.

First day of the 6th Chessboxing World Championship, and what a day it was! Fighters from 20 different countries came to figure out who is the Toughest and Smartest on the Planet. Today, 29 fights took place, hundreds of chess moves were made, thousands of punches were thrown, but only a few Chessboxers made it to the next stage of the Championship! We are happy to discover new faces, welcome new countries within the Chessboxing family, make new friends, and see the improvement of many others since the last year. Thanks to the .ru team for the organisation, and kudos to all the fighters for the exciting fights!!

Volfango Rizzi is the founding father of chessboxing in Italy. He founded the Federazione Italiana ScacchiPugilato - FISP in 2012. He has an official boxing referee license. Apart from that he is one of the finest chess arbiters we have and served as the main referee at the finals of the latest Amateur World Championship in Antalya Turkey.

0047: The 3rd Amateur World Championship took place in Antalya, Turkey December 2019. Fighters from 16 countries joined. Fédération de Chessboxing - France won the overall championship with 7 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medal.

Frank Stoldt is considered the first real chessboxer having considerable qualities in both disciplines in history. A riot policeman and a national kickboxing champion he trained with Grandmaster Michael Richter and reached a Chess Elo Rating of 1900. Stoldt was Chessboxing World Champion in 2006 / 2007.

Montu Das founded the Chessboxing Organisation of India in 2011. He has been practicing Martial Arts for the last 31 years, was Indian Karate Champion in 1995 and Kickboxing Champion in 1997. Das organized numerous kickboxing events and has now dedicated himself to promote chessboxing in his country.
