High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) – a proven way for people short on time to torch fat by increasing cardiovascular fitness and speeding up your metabolism. HIIT features short bursts of intense ‘bodyweight’ activity followed by a short recovery period, before you go all over again! The best part? Your metabolism stays elevated for up to 38 hours afterwards (which leads to more calories burnt!)
Core Training – the core is responsible for maintaining a strong, stable position whilst carrying out any other activity. A weak core can lead to problems such as a bad back, poor balance or reduced performance in a sporting activity. Core training is not simply about “getting a six pack”; core training targets and strengthens the muscles deep inside the body which provides a strong basis for all other movement in your life. Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) – a very tough but effective way to improve your strength and endurance at the same time. Using weights (or other types of resistance), you will carry out intense sets of exercise that will ‘disturb’ your metabolism causing changes long after you've stopped exercising for the day as your body tries to recover. An MRT session will consist of ‘super sets’ or ‘tri-sets’ (performed straight after each other with no rest) or ‘complexes’ (different sets where the weight does not leave the athlete’s hands in between). Kettlebell Training – one of the most effective ways to develop dynamic, total body, functional strength (strength for the real world.) The Kettlebell looks like a ten-pin bowling ball with a hooped handle and can deliver a tough workout that develops cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility. Resistance Training – using weights, machines, cables or body weight to increase the strength of the muscles. Plyometrics – for anyone wishing to develop their explosive power for a sport or event. Also known as ‘jump training’. Sports-specific training – exercises to improve agility, balance and coordination specific to your sport. TRAINING LOCATION
You will need to identify a suitable venue where the training will take place and this needs to be appropriate for your fitness goals. This can be at your home, an outdoor space or at your community gym. If training at a gym please ensure that the management company allow you to bring in an external Personal Trainer. You can try a free ‘ taster session’ before signing up to a block of sessions. Beforehand, you will need to complete a questionnaire identifying your current health status (including medical/injury background), relevant lifestyle factors, exercise experience and your fitness goals.

TRAINER BACKGROUND
I am a male from the UK with a background in Sports & Health Development; teacher- training (Primary and Secondary school teachers); teaching Physical Education (Head of Department) and coaching football (Level 2 FA Coach). I have worked in the field of Sport, Exercise & Health since 2000. I am a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer. References can be supplied upon request.
