The mission of the Arab Golf Federation (AGF) is to streamline the affairs of the game in the Arab world and enhance the overall development of golf by creating healthy playing opportunities for its members. Recognised by R&A – the game’s governing body based at St Andrews -- and the Arab Olympic Committee, the AGF was formed in 1974 during Al Nile and Arz Golf Championship. Since then it has work

ed tirelessly to realize a strong potential of growth in the region while maintaining a commitment to the integrity of the game. The credit for laying a strong foundation goes to Lebanon’s Saleem Salam, who was appointed the first chairman for the AGF. Under his inspiring leadership, Lebanon hosted the AGF for the first 15 years. After his sad demise, Khaled Abu Taleb of Egypt took over reigns and guided the federation to greater heights with his vision until 2008. The elections to the board of directors were held in 2009 during the 29th Arab Golf Championship in Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE when HE Shaikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi was elected the chairman of AGF and Adel Al Zarouni as the Secretary-General for a four-year term. The duo, along with the board members, have chalked up ambitious plans to put Arab golf on the map.
