How Do You Deal w/ Setbacks?
I spent months preparing for this race.
Strength sessions.
Long runs.
Endless treadmill climbs.
Oman altitude blocks.
Stair descents.
Nutrition planning.
Recovery.
Three weeks in the Pyrenees.
More than 220 kilometres on the race course.
Over 10,000 metres of climbing and descending.
I rolled my right ankle five weeks before the race.
I rolled my left ankle just thirteen days before the start.
For a moment, I questioned whether all those months of preparation were about to disappear. If this is a cursed race for me.
Then race day arrived.
The mountains didn't know any of that.
They didn't know how hard I'd trained.
They didn't know I'd failed here five years earlier.
They didn't know about the injuries, the doubts, or the sacrifices.
They simply asked one question:
"Will you keep moving?"
That's what mountain ultras teach us.
Not how strong we are when everything goes according to plan...
But who we become when nothing does.
Keep moving forward... even when you have every reason not to.
