Polo in the UAE has come a long way since its humble beginnings when the game was played on sand. The lack of facilities, combined with the vision of founder Ali Albwardy to popularise the sport, led to the development of Desert Palm Polo Club in 1994, home to the internationally renowned Dubai Polo Team. Located 20 minutes away from Dubai's city centre, Desert Palm has become the epicentre of pol

o in Dubai and is recognised as one of the leading polo estates in the world. It provides an idyllic backdrop for numerous international tournaments and has put Dubai on the global sporting map. In addition to housing first-class polo facilities, Desert Palm Polo Club is home to an award-winning boutique hotel, 85 exclusive residences, a riding school and Riding for the Disabled Association Dubai. There are four manicured grass polo fields and a designated stick and ball area, with various training facilities including a track surrounding the grounds to work the horses. Over 250 polo ponies are stabled, trained and played during the year with several Argentinean polo professionals on hand during the season, which runs from October to April. Desert Palm Polo Club prides itself on having a multi-cultural and relaxed atmosphere, catering to all age ranges and players of all abilities, from beginners through to novices and professionals. The club holds practice chukkas for members and non-members (by invitation only) and endeavours to have the highest level of play.

We are deeply thankful for the wise leadership of the UAE, for the strength and unity it continues to inspire, and for the UAE Armed Forces and other authorities who work tirelessly to keep us safe. During recent challenging times, the UAE has once again shown itself as a beacon of stability, resilience and peace.

At Desert Palm, we are fortunate to have an incredible team of grooms who are going above and beyond to look after all our horses — from our polo ponies to the riding school and livery — with genuine care and attention, ensuring and every horse remains happy, healthy, and well.

Horses First. Always. 💚

While the polo fields have been quiet during this uncertain period, the work behind the scenes at Desert Palm has never stopped.

Our incredible team has continued to care for every horse with the same dedication and attention they show during the height of the polo season — hand walking, exercising, grooming and keeping them happy, healthy and fit.

In times like these, our priority remains exactly where it should be: with the horses and their wellbeing.

We are enormously grateful to our grooms, riders, and ground staff who continue to look after the horses with such professionalism, patience and care during this unsettling time.

We also take this moment to reflect with deep gratitude for the incredible country we live in. We are thankful for the wisdom and guidance of the UAE’s visionary leadership, and for the tireless efforts of the authorities and armed forces who continue to safeguard and protect our community.

Until the fields are busy again, the work continues quietly behind the scenes — caring for the horses that are at the heart of everything we do. 💚

Our much-loved annual Valentine’s Cup saw an incredible 9 teams go head-to-head over two days of thrilling, fast-paced polo. The level of skill on display was outstanding, with players and our amazing horses giving their all in every chukka.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, competed, or supported from the sidelines. You are what makes Desert Palm one of the most welcoming and friendly polo clubs in Dubai.
