5 year difference between these photos, and the biggest transformation was not just physical, it was mental too.
Being fit, in shape and working as a personal trainer, people often assume it comes easy to me, but the reality has been the complete opposite.
For as long as I can remember, I struggled with keeping my weight and body composition consistent. Training was always part of my life, especially after my back surgery in 2007, but nutrition was where I needed to make the biggest changes.
In 2022, I completely gave up alcohol, and from there began the journey of learning how to truly fuel my body. I don’t count calories, I don’t weigh my food, I simply focus on eating whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods while prioritising protein.
That doesn’t mean I never enjoy treats, but I’ve learned to make more conscious choices most of the time. I prioritise sleep, strength train 4–5 times a week (although honestly, 3 solid sessions is enough), and I make sure I get my 10–12k steps in daily.
At first it wasn’t easy, but now it’s no longer something I “have” to do , it’s simply my lifestyle.
To every mom and every woman over 40, remember this:
You are not competing with anyone else. Your only comparison should be the person you were yesterday.
Small consistent habits over time create life changing results 🤍
