Over the years as a trainer, I’ve seen many common misconceptions among the general public. I can confidently speak for many professionals in my field when I say these misunderstandings often create unnecessary barriers between clients and their goals. Single-leg strength and stability are foundations of long-term movement and independence. Daily tasks like walking, climbing stairs, and lifting all rely on one leg at a time. Training each side individually improves balance, reduces injury risk, and helps you move confidently and efficiently as you age.

Strength isn’t just built in the reps—it is also built in the rest. Optimise your strength programme by knuckling down on the correct periods of recovery in between sets to reach your goals.

Take 2–3 minutes between heavy sets to recharge your muscles and nervous system before attempting max lifts. In some cases, this can even be extended up to 5 minutes.

The right rest = more power, more progress, and more PB's. Training smarter, and with more structure to reach those goals quicker, and with less risk of injury.
