BREAKING NEWS: “BASELESS LIES AND A BLATANT SMEAR CAMPAIGN!” — REP. PAOLO DUTERTE FIRES BACK WITH LIBEL AND CYBERLIBEL COMPLAINTS!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! PULONG DUTERTE TAKES THE BATTLE FROM THE HEADLINES TO THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE! ⚖️
Davao City First District Representative Paolo “Pulong” Duterte is fighting back against what he describes as false accusations and a deliberate attempt to destroy his reputation and tarnish his family’s name.
The congressman has filed libel and cyberlibel complaints against NBI Director Melvin Matibag, Rodulfo Gracioso Jr., and several GMA Network officials and journalists.
“These allegations are completely false and clearly intended to damage my reputation and that of my family,” Duterte declared, explaining why he decided to take legal action.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, Duterte personally appeared at the Davao City Prosecutor’s Office to file the complaints.
BIG NAMES, SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS!
Among those named as respondents are prominent television personalities and network executives:
* Mel Tiangco
* Vicky Morales
* Emil Sumangil
* Felipe Gozon
* Gilberto Duavit Jr.
THE ₱100-MILLION QUESTION: FACT, FICTION, OR POLITICAL FIRESTORM?
At the center of the controversy is Gracioso’s allegation that a staggering ₱100 million in cash was allegedly delivered to Congressman Duterte.
But Pulong isn’t buying the story. He categorically denies the accusation and is now challenging those involved through the legal system.
“99% TRUE”? HOLD ON—WHERE’S THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY?
Duterte’s lawyer, Atty. Peter Paul Danao, questioned what he described as the premature public release of the allegations while the investigation remained unfinished.
He also challenged the reported characterization of the accusations as “99% true” despite Duterte’s side allegedly not having been obtained.
For Duterte’s camp, the issue goes beyond a controversial news report. It is about protecting a reputation, demanding accountability, and challenging allegations they insist are unsupported.
THE BATTLE IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF THE LAW!
The accusations have been made. The denials are on record. And the legal complaints have been filed.
But one crucial distinction remains: Allegations are not proof, and filing a libel complaint does not automatically establish that defamation occurred.
The evidence—and the legal process—will determine what happens next.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Is this a legitimate fight to defend a family’s reputation, or another high-profile confrontation between politics and the press?
Freedom of the press matters. So does accountability for what gets published.
