Most men who walk into a gym believe they need a bodybuilding split.

Chest Monday.
Back Tuesday.
Shoulders Wednesday.
Arms Thursday.
Legs Friday.

The problem?

Most busy professionals don’t have the time, recovery capacity, training experience, or consistency to make that approach work.

After coaching thousands of general population clients over the last 15 years, I’ve found that simpler almost always works better.

Train 2-4 times per week.
Focus on the big movement patterns.
Progress gradually.
Recover properly.
Repeat for years, not weeks.

You don’t need to train like a bodybuilder to build muscle.

You need a plan you can actually stick to.

At Elite Fitness, that’s exactly what we help our clients do.

📩 DM “ELITE” if you’d like a complimentary body composition analysis and movement assessment.

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make in commercial gyms is wasting half their workout waiting on equipment.

A busy gym doesn’t mean you can’t have an effective workout.

This entire upper body session was built around one bench and a few pairs of dumbbells.

Chest ✔️
Back ✔️
Shoulders ✔️
Traps ✔️

No waiting.
No wandering around the gym.
No complicated training split.

At Elite Fitness, we focus on getting the maximum result from the minimum amount of time.

Fortunately, our members don’t have to deal with crowded gyms or queue for equipment.

As a private personal training facility, everything is ready before you arrive.

You simply book your session, show up, and train with your coach.

Your workout is planned.
Your equipment is set up.
Your coach is waiting.

No guesswork.
No wasted time.
No distractions.

Because for busy professionals, efficiency matters.

One piece of advice I wish someone had told me 25 years ago…

There is no exercise that specifically needs to be in your training program.

Not barbell back squats.
Not deadlifts.
Not bench press.

Over the last 25 years of training, and coaching thousands of general population clients during the last 9 years at Elite Fitness, I’ve seen too many people force themselves into exercises that simply weren’t right for them.

The result?

Unnecessary soreness.
Poor technique.
Frustration.
And sometimes injury.

Don’t get me wrong.

Everyone should be squatting, pushing, pulling, hinging and carrying.

But the specific exercise you choose should match your current ability, injury history, mobility and confidence level.

A goblet squat is still a squat.

A machine chest press is still a press.

A dumbbell Romanian deadlift is still a hip hinge.

Master the basics first.

Earn the right to progress.

The people who get the best long-term results aren’t the ones doing the most advanced exercises.

They’re the ones who stay consistent for years.

What exercise do you think people spend far too much time worrying about?

16/06/2026

Most busy professionals make the same mistake with exercise.

They look at it through the lens of a straw.

Every workout becomes about calories burned.

Every week becomes about what the scales say.

Every month becomes about whether they have lost a few kilos.

The problem?

When the weight loss slows down, motivation often disappears with it.

At Elite Fitness, we encourage our clients to zoom out.

Think 10, 20, or even 30 years ahead.

The strength training you do today is helping you maintain muscle mass and bone density as you age.

It’s helping you reduce the risk of sarcopenia and osteopenia.

It’s helping you stay independent, active and capable long after retirement.

The goal isn’t simply to lose weight.

The goal is to be able to travel without struggling up a flight of stairs.

Play with your children and future grandchildren.

Get off the floor without assistance.

Carry your own luggage.

Enjoy life without your body holding you back.

The leaner physique and smaller waistline are great.

But they are only part of the picture.

The real win is building a body that still serves you well decades from now.

That’s a much bigger reason to train than simply burning a few hundred calories.

Lower body training is the foundation of our programs at Elite.

Many new clients walk through our doors having trained legs once… maybe twice… in the previous year.

By the end of their first week, they’ve often trained their lower body more effectively than they have in years.

Most men avoid leg training for one of two reasons:

* It’s hard.
* They’d rather focus on the upper-body “mirror muscles.”

We change that very quickly.

The muscles of the lower body—your glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and calves—are the largest and most powerful muscle groups in the body.

They help you build strength, maintain muscle mass, improve mobility, burn more calories and stay independent as you age.

At Elite, we focus on the movements that deliver the biggest return on your time and effort:

✅ Squat movements
✅ Hip extension movements
✅ Knee extension movements
✅ Knee flexion movements
✅ Lunge and split squat movements

Rather than chasing random exercises, we build programs around these fundamental movement patterns to ensure every major muscle group of the lower body is trained safely and effectively.

Strong legs aren’t just about looking athletic.

They’re about climbing stairs without effort, getting off the floor with ease, carrying shopping bags, playing with your children and maintaining your independence as you get older.

If longevity, health and performance are the goal, lower body training isn’t optional.

It’s essential. 💪🏼

“What is the best rep range for building muscle?”

Most people think there is some magical number.

8 reps.
10 reps.
12 reps.

The truth?

The latest research suggests you can build muscle anywhere from around 5 reps all the way up to 30 reps or more.

The rep range is not the most important factor.

What matters is:

✅ Training close enough to failure
✅ Using good technique
✅ Progressively getting stronger
✅ Doing enough weekly volume
✅ Being consistent

This is why at Elite Fitness you’ll see our members performing everything from heavy sets of 6 reps on squats and deadlifts to sets of 15-20 reps on isolation exercises.

Different exercises.

Different goals.

Same outcome.

More muscle.

The biggest mistake I see?

People obsessing over the “perfect” rep range while completely ignoring effort, consistency and progression.

The best rep range for building muscle is the one that allows you to train hard, recover well and keep showing up week after week.

Because after all…

The best program is the one you actually stick to.

If your goal is to build lean muscle, I’ve put together a free Muscle Building Guide that covers the exact training, nutrition and recovery principles we use with our clients at Elite Fitness.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

One of the biggest predictors of success in health and fitness isn’t the latest workout plan or diet.

It’s accountability.

Whether it’s a husband and wife encouraging each other, two friends training side by side, or a coach expecting you to show up at 6am, having people in your corner makes a huge difference.

Research consistently shows that people who train with others are more likely to stay consistent and stick with exercise long enough to see real results.

At Elite Fitness, many of our most successful clients started their journey with a training partner and then combined that accountability with expert coaching.

The result?

Better consistency.
Better compliance.
Better results.

👉And because we know how powerful that combination can be, throughout June, when you join Elite Fitness with a friend, you’ll both save money on your personal training membership.

Sometimes the fastest way to reach your goals is not doing it alone.

Most busy professionals don’t struggle to lose weight because of a lack of information.

They struggle because they’re making a few simple mistakes consistently every week.

The first mistake is not tracking their food intake.

Before you panic, tracking doesn’t necessarily mean weighing every gram of food or counting every calorie.

It can be as simple as keeping a food diary, taking photos of your meals, or honestly reviewing what you eat from Monday to Sunday.

Most people remember what they ate on Tuesday.

Very few remember what happened on Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday evening.

The second mistake is confusing healthy eating with fat loss.

Healthy food can absolutely make you gain weight.

I once had a client who was drinking two avocado smoothies every day because he thought they were healthy.

And he was right.

They were healthy.

The problem was they were also packed with calories.

As a result, he wasn’t creating the calorie deficit needed for fat loss.

The third mistake is not eating enough protein.

Protein helps control hunger, supports recovery, and helps preserve muscle while losing body fat.

Most men who walk through our doors aren’t eating anywhere near enough.

The reality is that fat loss isn’t about detox teas, fat burners, fasting protocols, or cutting out entire food groups.

It’s about creating a system you can consistently follow week after week.

At Elite Fitness, we help busy men and women simplify the process, build better habits, and finally get results that last.

If you’re struggling to lose weight despite feeling like you’re doing everything right, send me a message with the word “HELP” and let’s have a chat.

Fat Loss Is Simple.

It only feels complicated because there are so many voices in the fitness, nutrition, wellness, and longevity space trying to convince you otherwise.

The reality?

For most people, fat loss comes down to three things.

1. Calorie Deficit

This is the foundation.

If you’re not consistently consuming fewer calories than you burn, fat loss won’t happen.

You need a simple system and structure around your nutrition that you can follow Monday to Sunday.

Not Monday to Thursday.

Not “until the weekend.”

Monday to Sunday.

2. Weekly Movement

Your total weekly movement plays a massive role in energy expenditure.

The problem is that most people barely move.

They sit at a desk for 8 hours.

They sit in the car.

They sit on the sofa at night.

Then they wonder why three gym sessions per week aren’t producing the results they want.

For most people, daily walking is one of the most underrated fat loss tools available.

3. Resistance Training

This is where many people get it wrong.

The gym should not be your primary fat loss tool.

The gym should be where you build strength, muscle, fitness, confidence, and long-term health.

Don’t go to the gym just to burn calories and sweat.

Go with a plan.

Go with purpose.

Focus on getting stronger, moving better, and improving performance.

Let the calorie deficit and daily movement drive the fat loss.

Let resistance training build the body you want underneath.

Get these three things right, and fat loss becomes a lot more predictable than the fitness industry would have you believe.

Ready to stop guessing and start making progress?

Click the link in our bio and join our 4-Week Fat Loss Challenge.

Starts June 8th. Limited spaces available.
